The Network Engineerย is responsible forย responding to level two issues that arise and escalations from the Network Operations Center or service desk. This person will proactively work with senior members of the Managed Services practice to provide exceptional support for our managed client portfolio.ย
Responsibilities
- React and resolve casesย submittedย or automatically alerted by monitoring tools.ย
- Troubleshoot basic issues and provide solution options and recommendations.ย
- Perform minor software upgrades on network infrastructure.ย
- Conduct proactive performance assessments of clients' network environments,ย identifyingย opportunities for optimization and improvement.ย
- Aid other team members in the resolution of cases within the scope of the skillset.ย
- Assistย with information gathering and reporting to either clients or Client Success Managers.ย
- Collaborate with senior engineers to escalate issues as needed.ย
- Develop,ย maintain, and update technical knowledge base articles.ย
- Interact with clients on an as needed basis through virtual meetings, phone calls, email, or messaging.ย
- Collaboration with peers across Managed Services practice.ย
- Participate in on-call rotation.ย
- After-hours / weekend work may beย required.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- 1 -3ย years in Cisco or other network related environments.ย
- Accountability to drive resolution to completion.ย
- Familiarity with Cisco networking equipment and technologies, including routers, switches, and firewalls.ย
- Strong problem-solving skills, attention toย detailย and sense of ownership.ย ย
- Experience working for an MSP.ย
- Advancedย degreeย or relevant certifications in Information Technology, orย a relatedย field are a plus.ย
- Have orย workingย toward entry level certifications,ย e.g.ย CCNA, Azure Fundamentals, etc.ย
- Experience navigating ticketing systems,ย e.g.ย Service Now.ย
- Experience using monitoring tools,ย e.g.ย Logic Monitor.ย
In addition to base salary, this role is eligible for discretionary bonus plan based on company and individual performance. Compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each candidate, including experience and location.
