Position Summary 

The Head of Commercial Operations is an Executive who provides strategic and operational leadership for the company’s theatrical portfolio, including multiple tours and resident theatrical productions. This role directly manages five senior leaders, multiple high-profile domestic and international partnerships as well as navigates significant cross-departmental collaborations. The Head of Commercial Operations works in close partnership with the Head of Sales, Marketing and Revenue Management, to accomplish fiscally responsible, world-class entertainment while delivering strong financial results. 

As the company continues to grow, the ideal candidate brings a proven track record of driving revenue performance in complex, fast-paced environments, managing scalable budgets, and leading teams to maximize both top-line growth and profitability across a portfolio of Live Entertainment offerings. 

Key Responsibilities 

Leadership & Management 

  • Provide direct leadership, coaching, and performance management for four General Managers and one senior-level Tour Operator with clear accountability for Commercial outcomes. 

  • Set clear operational goals, KPIs, and accountability standards for revenue growth, profitability, market expansion and shows for resident and touring operations.  

  • Foster a collaborative, commercially driven culture across teams that aligns show quality and a healthy and safe environment. 

  • Serve as a senior leader and trusted advisor to Executive leadership on operational strategy, growth plans and risk assessments. 

Theatrical Show Operations 

  • Manage partnerships with local promoters and venue owners , ensuring the groups maintain focus and status with critical partners. 

  • Work with President/CEO and fellow leadership team by participating in annual planning and company growth strategies, providing Operational expertise and budget/feasibility guidance when needed. 

  • As a senior leader, visit Show teams on a regular basis with a focus consistency, efficiency, and artistic integrity. 

  • Ensure each show is operating within approved budgets, labor agreements, and company policies. 

  • Partner with Creation team to seamlessly execute show changes and new creative visions. 

  • Partner with Production and Technical teams to support show maintenance, cast changes, capital projects, technical updates, and long‑term sustainability. 

Touring Operations: Booking & Planning 

  • Supervise a dedicated Tour Operator to execute all aspects of theatrical touring strategy of multiple touring kits in a variety of IP.  This includes market selection, feasibility studies, venue negotiations, routing, and scheduling. 

  • Oversee tour budgeting, forecasting, and financial performance. 

  • Demonstrate ability to lead and scale high‑performing Operations teams amid significant growth, supporting the expansion of intellectual property and new touring opportunities. 

  • In conjunction with Tour Operator, collaborate with booking agents, venues, presenters, and promoters to secure optimal engagements across domestic and international markets with cohesive, multi-year plans for a variety of kits. 

  • Ensure logistical excellence across travel, freight, housing, visas, customs, and local labor coordination. 

  • Balance artistic needs, financial outcomes, and operational feasibility across tour plans. 

Financial Oversight 

  • Serve as single point of contact for leadership, Show teams and Finance offices on P&Ls for resident shows and touring productions during monthly financial reviews, reforecasts and budgeting. 

  • Regularly monitor P&L performance, cost controls, and profitability across productions. 

  • Partner closely with Finance to develop forecasts, cash flow plans, and long‑term financial strategies. 

  • Identify opportunities for operational efficiencies, margin improvement, and risk mitigation. 

Compliance & Risk Management 

  • Ensure compliance with labor agreements, safety standards, union rules, and local regulations across all jurisdictions. 

  • Oversee crisis management, contingency planning, and operational risk mitigation strategies. 

Strategic Planning 

  • Contribute to long‑range planning for new productions, tours, and market expansions with an aptitude for growth strategies.   

  • Support strategic initiatives such as new markets, alternative formats, or production scaling. 

  • Evaluate operational readiness for growth and make recommendations for infrastructure, staffing, and systems. 

Qualifications 

Required 

  • 10+ years of senior‑level Operations leadership, with a strong track record of driving Commercial performance, ideally within Live Entertainment, Theater, Touring productions, or Performing Arts. Proven experience managing multiple senior leaders of varying scope. 

  • Deep understanding of theatrical operations, touring logistics, and booking processes. 

  • Strong financial acumen with demonstrated experience managing multi‑million‑dollar budgets. 

  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and decision‑making skills. 

Preferred 

  • Experience working with unionized labor (e.g., Actors’ Equity, IATSE, Musicians’ Union). 

  • Experience with national and/or international tours. 

  • Background in complex, multi‑venue or multi‑title entertainment operations.
