Job description

Senior Network Engineer
Work location: Remote/Telecommute
PROJECT:
This initiative is for the Client Network integration, which consists of over 1400 remote sites, supporting 1000s of VPN connections. We are responsible for the migration of these VPNs connections into the Optum data centers.
IDEAL BACKGROUND:
The ideal candidate will be a Mid-level network engineer with Cisco IPSEC VPN experience. We need network engineers familiar with building IPSEC site-to-site VPN tunnels, using Cisco CLI. Along with these technical skills, this position also requires outstanding communication skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. The candidate will be dealing with multiple external 3rd party companies, negotiating VPN variables, coordinating, and scheduling the changes, and troubleshooting connectivity issues after deployment.
INTERVIEW PROCESS:
a. How many rounds? 1-2
b. Video vs. phone? No Preference
c. How technical will the interviews be? The technical aspect will be around IPSEC VPNs, with the remainder being high level of overall skills related to technologies defined on the candidate's resume.
TOP REQUIREMENTS: Years of experience: 5+ years

• Works with minimal guidance; seeks guidance on only the most complex tasks
• Communicate effectively with leadership, peers, project managers, clients, and stakeholders
• Flexible work schedule with ability to make after hours changes.
What experience will set candidates apart from one another?
Hands on experience with Cisco routers building site-to-site IPSEC tunnels.
Clear and articulate verbal and written/documentation skills.
Current team:
Multiple routing and switching subject matter experts made up from 5 Onshore engineers, 3 Offshore engineers, 4 Contractors and 1 Architect.
Primary Responsibilities:
• Configuration and troubleshooting of IPSEC site-to-site VPNs
• Author technical documentation such as network diagrams
• Monitor network performance and implement performance tuning when necessary
• Diagnose connectivity problems and resolve network issues
• Work closely with clients and vendors on implementation of products and services
• Ensure security and operational standards and procedures are maintained in accordance with compliance requirements, HIPAA standards, and industry best practices
• Works with minimal guidance; seeks guidance only on the most complex tasks
• Communicate effectively with leadership, peers, project managers, clients, and stakeholders
Preferred Qualifications:
• CCNA or higher certification
• Experience installing and maintaining Cisco routers and switches
• Experience in Arista switch management
• Experience in Palo Alto firewalls
• Documentation skills and use of programs such as Visio
• Skilled in a scripting language such as Python
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects
