The responsibilities of the Remote Mental Health Counselor include, but are not limited to:

• Conducting thorough psychosocial assessments for new patients to identify their specific mental health needs and concerns.
• Developing and implementing individualized treatment plans that utilize both conventional therapeutic methods and holistic practices.
• Facilitating a combination of individual, couples, and group therapy sessions, utilizing digital tools to enhance engagement and support.
• Employing evidence-based therapeutic modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and mindfulness strategies tailor-fit to address the nuanced issues faced by cancer patients.
• Regularly reviewing and updating treatment plans based on patient progress and emerging research in mental health therapies.
• Staying compliant with all ethical standards and maintaining confidentiality in line with HIPAA regulations.

This role specifically targets individuals diagnosed with cancer, encompassing a spectrum of experiences from diagnosis through treatment to survivorship and palliative care. Counselors will provide emotional support not just to patients but also to their families, helping to navigate the challenges and psychological burdens associated with cancer care. Understanding the unique experiences and stressors related to cancer is crucial for delivering impactful support.

To be considered for this position, candidates must meet the following qualifications:

• A Master’s degree in Counseling, Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, or Mental Health Counseling.
• Valid license as a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), or Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC).
• No history of medical malpractice claims, verified by a third-party agency.
• Authorization to work in the United States.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a passion for working in a remote healthcare setting.

Ideal candidates will possess experience in providing mental health services specifically for oncology patients or other chronic illness populations. Familiarity with telehealth platforms and remote therapy techniques will be advantageous. Training or certifications in trauma-informed care and familiarity with community resources for cancer patients will also be considered beneficial.
