ABOUT SMARTAC

Built to transform how HVAC is experienced. SmartAC is an HVAC growth engine designed to help contractors capture more customers, convert them into members, and retain them for life. We combine purpose-built technology, data intelligence, and proven programs to drive measurable growth without adding overhead.

THE OPPORTUNITY

As an Account Manager, you'll own the strategic relationships with our most important contractor partners. You'll be the trusted advisor who helps them understand the true growth opportunity in SmartAC—how to use our platform to acquire customers, convert them to members, and retain them for life—and who ensures they're achieving measurable business results.

This role combines deep customer knowledge with strategic thinking. You'll understand your contractors' business models, their growth challenges, and their competitive landscape. Then you'll guide them to make smarter decisions and use our platform to drive real member growth and revenue.

This is for someone who's equally comfortable in the field and in the boardroom, who thinks strategically about contractor growth, and who genuinely believes in empowering HVAC service providers to thrive.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Strategic Account Ownership & Growth

  • Build and maintain deep, executive-level relationships with key contractor partners

  • Understand contractor business models, revenue drivers, operational challenges, and growth goals

  • Develop and execute strategic growth plans that help contractors use SmartAC to acquire and retain members

  • Serve as the primary SmartAC contact for strategic contractors, providing expert guidance and proactive support

  • Help contractors think through their member acquisition strategy and measure success

Business Performance & Optimization

  • Conduct regular high-level business reviews that focus on contractor growth metrics and outcomes

  • Help contractors understand how to optimize their use of SmartAC to drive member acquisition and retention

  • Identify opportunities for expanded engagement within contractor accounts (additional markets, additional service lines, etc.)

  • Monitor contractor health and proactively manage retention

  • Support contract renewals and expansion initiatives

Cross-Functional Leadership & Contractor Advocacy

  • Collaborate with Sales, Onboarding, Account Success, and Product teams to support contractor success and growth

  • Gather strategic feedback from contractors about what's working and what could be improved

  • Serve as the voice of the contractor within SmartAC—represent their needs and market insights to leadership

  • Coordinate escalation management for strategic contractor issues

  • Provide strategic market and competitive insights to Product and Leadership teams

Thought Leadership & Market Engagement

  • Represent SmartAC at industry events, trade shows, and contractor gatherings

  • Build relationships with industry partners and complementary service providers

  • Help contractors think through market positioning and competitive strategy

WHAT YOU BRING

Required:

  • 5+ years of experience managing strategic or enterprise customer relationships

  • Strong consultative communication skills and ability to build trust with executive stakeholders

  • Deep commercial and business acumen—you understand how contractors make money and what drives their growth

  • Excellent presentation, negotiation, and strategic planning skills

  • Ability to manage multiple high-priority accounts while maintaining exceptional service

  • Experience in customer growth, account expansion, or business development

  • Strong organizational and analytical skills with ability to translate data into insights

  • Willingness to travel as required for strategic contractor engagement and account visits

Preferred:

  • Experience in HVAC, home services, field services, or related industries

  • Track record managing enterprise or strategic accounts

  • Familiarity with CRM, field service software, or business intelligence tools

  • Understanding of membership or recurring revenue models

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Economics, Marketing, or related field

WHY JOIN US
  • Own strategic relationships with contractors who are genuinely excited about growing their business

  • Have real influence on product development and company strategy through direct contractor feedback

  • Work with a team that understands the field (our founder built a $50M+ contracting business)

  • Help contractors transform their business model and drive measurable growth

  • Be part of a movement that's removing inefficiencies and delivering better economics for HVAC service providers

BENEFITS & PERKS
  • Competitive base salary + performance-based compensation

  • Health, dental, and vision insurance

  • 401(k) with company match

  • Equity options

  • Paid time off

  • Travel budget and support

  • Opportunities for career growth and advancement in Sales and Customer Success leadership

SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE
  • Strong, collaborative relationships with your strategic contractor accounts

  • Growth in member acquisition and retention within your accounts

  • High contractor satisfaction and retention

  • Proactive identification of expansion opportunities and business growth

  • Constructive feedback flowing from the field back to SmartAC leadership
