Summary: 

Responsible for providing overall project management for Willis Lease during Lease Engine Returns, Engine Shop Visits and Engine Purchases to ensure the engines meet all FAA/EASA and Willis Lease requirements. The Project Manager, Technical Services provides the main interface between the Customer, the MRO and Willis Lease during the crucial lease return process. The Project Manager coordinates all aspects of the lease return process with all internal and external customers. This position requires the Project Manager to travel to the location of the engine and/or the records as necessary to manage the lease return process, shop visit or purchase of an engine. 


Responsibilities: 

  • Acts as the primary coordinator with Willis Lease Contracts, the Customer, the MRO, and Willis Lease Technical Records to facilitate an engine lease return.
  • Acts as the primary point of contact with the customer during the lease return process including any coordination for customer on-site or MRO visits. Sets up secondary points of contact within Willis Lease for the customer to facilitate engine lease returns.
  • Utilizes the Willis Lease Technical Department Procedures to perform the requirements of an engine lease return at remote locations.
  • Ensures work performed during the lease return is complete and complies with FAA, EASA and Willis Lease requirements.  
  • Attends, or delegates as appropriate, the test cell run or On-wing tests, to ensure engine performance meets lease return requirements.  If performance issues arise, the Project Manager is responsible for coordinating resolution with the MRO, Customer and Willis Lease.
  • Attends, or delegates as appropriate, Post Test Borescope inspections to ensure serviceability of the engine prior to lease return and works with the Customer, MRO and OEM to resolve any discrepancies.
  • Performs, or delegates as appropriate, a detailed inventory of the engine at end of lease to ensure all items shipped with the engine at start of the lease are returned.  If any differences are noted, the Project Manager will work with Willis Lease Technical Records to acquire proper certification of installed units. The Project Manager works with the MRO, the Customer, or a Contractor to replace any missing parts in a cost-effective manner.
  • Reviews for accuracy and, as required, makes copies of all data generated by the Customer and the MRO during the lease return process so that the engine may be leased again in a timely manner. 
  • Acts as the primary coordinator for engine shop visits with the following duties: 
    • prepares the work scope and attains a cost estimate from the MRO
    • provides the MRO with all required data for the shop visit
    • manages all aspects of the repair to ensure compliance with the work scope and to achieve a cost-effective repair
    • reviews the invoice and manages disputes if any
    • dispositions all unserviceable material
    • ensures the engine is properly packaged for shipment
  • Assists in any other technical function to support the Company portfolio as may be required.
  • Attend Industry conferences to stay current on engine programs.
  • Other duties as assigned


Qualifications / Requirements:

  • A&P license preferred.  Minimum “P” required.
  • 5+ years of airline and/or engine shop experience.
  • Experience with the CFM56 Series, LEAP-1A and LEAP-1B series, GEnx, GE90, PW4000   94” and 100”, CF6-80, CF34 Series, and IAE V2500-A5, engine models.
  • Strong background in engine records. Position requires knowledge of Life Limited Parts status reports (Chapter 5) and Airworthiness Directive status reports.
  • Test cell, Engine repair and overhaul and Borescope experience required.
  • Able to travel on short notice, for extended periods and globally.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel mandatory.
  • Strong interpersonal skills including the ability to work well with different levels of management as well as different cultures.


Travel/Misc.: 

  • Extensive global travel - 150+ days a year.
