Position Overview
On behalf of our client, Procom is seeking a Senior .NET Engineer / Application Modernization Engineer to join its AWS Transformation Factory initiative. This role is part of a large-scale enterprise modernization program focused on transforming legacy .NET applications into modern, cloud-native solutions running on AWS.
As a member of the RadNET Application Modernization workstream, you will modernize enterprise applications by migrating .NET Framework applications to .NET Core/.NET 8+, refactoring legacy components, integrating AWS services, and developing scalable APIs and microservices. This is an opportunity to work on a high-impact government transformation project utilizing modern cloud technologies and application architecture best practices.
About the Project
Our client's AWS Transformation Factory consists of five integrated workstreams delivering enterprise modernization:

  • .NET Application Modernization (RadNET): Port legacy .NET Framework applications to .NET Core/.NET 8+, remediate package dependencies, and modernize legacy application architecture.
  • SQL Server to Aurora PostgreSQL Migration: Database migration utilizing AWS SCT, AWS DMS, and PostgreSQL modernization.
  • Containerization & Amazon EKS: Dockerization and Kubernetes deployment of modernized applications.
  • DevOps, CI/CD & Observability: Automated deployment pipelines, infrastructure-as-code, monitoring, and logging.
  • AWS Architecture, Security & Compliance: AWS Well-Architected design, security, IAM, and compliance governance.

Responsibilities
  • Modernize legacy .NET Framework applications by migrating them to .NET Core/.NET 8+.
  • Refactor legacy application components to align with modern cloud-native architecture patterns.
  • Resolve NuGet package compatibility issues during application modernization efforts.
  • Refactor Windows-specific technologies including:
    • ASP.NET Web Forms to Razor/Blazor
    • WPF/XAML components
    • T4 Templates
    • Distributed Transaction Coordinator (DTC) dependencies
  • Design, develop, and maintain enterprise applications using C#, ASP.NET, .NET Core, and .NET 8.
  • Develop RESTful APIs and microservices supporting scalable enterprise applications.
  • Integrate AWS cloud services into application architecture.
  • Collaborate with architects, developers, DevOps engineers, database teams, and State of Maryland stakeholders throughout the modernization effort.
  • Participate in architecture reviews, technical planning sessions, and modernization strategy discussions.
  • Troubleshoot application issues, optimize performance, and implement secure coding best practices.
  • Contribute throughout the full software development lifecycle including design, development, testing, deployment, and production support.

Required Qualifications
  • 5+ years of professional software development experience using Microsoft technologies.
  • Strong hands-on experience with each of the following:
    • C#
    • ASP.NET
    • .NET Core
    • .NET 8+
  • Demonstrated experience modernizing and deploying production applications-not just maintaining legacy systems.
  • Experience migrating applications from .NET Framework to .NET Core/.NET 8+.
  • Experience resolving NuGet package compatibility issues during modernization efforts.
  • Experience refactoring Windows-specific application dependencies.
  • Strong SQL Server and relational database experience.
  • Experience designing and developing REST APIs and microservices.
  • Familiarity with AWS services and cloud-native application development.
  • Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate across technical and business teams.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience migrating ASP.NET Web Forms to Razor or Blazor.
  • Experience modernizing WPF/XAML applications.
  • AWS Cloud Practitioner certification or higher.
