Job description

What if you could redefine what's possible? With us, you can.

At WSP, you can apply your geological engineering knowledge to real-world mining, infrastructure, and geotechnical projects while working alongside experienced professionals. This is an opportunity to build a strong technical foundation in rock mechanics, geotechnical investigations, and geological engineering while contributing to projects that help shape communities and industries across Canada.

The Opportunity

WSP is seeking a Geological Engineering Graduate to join our team. This role is ideal for a recent graduate who is passionate about rock mechanics, geotechnical engineering, and earth sciences. Working under the guidance of senior engineers and geologists, you will support field investigations, data analysis, rock mass characterization, and engineering studies for a variety of mining and civil infrastructure projects.

You will have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in both field and office environments while developing technical expertise and contributing to innovative engineering solutions.

Your Impact
  • Support geological and geotechnical field investigations, including core logging, field mapping, and data collection activities.
  • Assist with rock mass characterization and interpretation of laboratory testing results to support engineering analyses.
  • Contribute to rock mechanics assessments, slope stability evaluations, and ground support design studies.
  • Prepare technical reports, drawings, figures, and data summaries for project deliverables.
  • Utilize industry-standard software tools, such as Rocscience and Leapfrog, to analyze and visualize geological and geotechnical data.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary project teams to support mining, tunneling, and infrastructure projects.
  • Participate in field assignments in a variety of environments, including remote project locations when required.
  • Support the delivery of safe, high-quality technical solutions that meet client and project objectives.
The Skills That Set You Apart
  • Bachelor's degree in Geological Engineering, Geology, Geotechnical Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Academic or project experience in rock mechanics, structural geology, geomechanics, or rock mass characterization.
  • Knowledge of geotechnical investigation methods and geological data collection techniques.
  • Experience or familiarity with geotechnical and geological software applications, including Rocscience and/or Leapfrog.
  • Understanding of geotechnical laboratory testing and interpretation of engineering data.
  • Previous co-op, internship, research, or field experience within mining, civil infrastructure, or tunneling projects is considered an asset.
  • Familiarity with geotechnical monitoring and instrumentation programs is an asset.
  • Ability and willingness to travel and participate in fieldwork as required.
