While both roles work within the BIM industry and often require Revit or AutoCAD certifications, the Remote Bim Software Developer focuses on creating and maintaining BIM-related software solutions, whereas the Remote Bim Modeler specializes in developing and editing BIM models for construction and design projects. Their work environments and skill sets overlap but serve different core functions within the BIM ecosystem.

What are some common challenges faced by remote BIM Software Developers, and how can they be addressed?

Remote BIM Software Developers often encounter challenges such as effective communication with multidisciplinary teams, managing version control for complex building models, and staying updated with evolving BIM standards. To address these, it's important to leverage collaborative tools for real-time model sharing, establish clear documentation protocols, and regularly participate in virtual team meetings. Proactively seeking feedback and maintaining an organized workflow can also help ensure smooth collaboration and project success in a remote setting.

What are Remote BIM Software Developers?

Remote BIM Software Developers are professionals who design, develop, and maintain Building Information Modeling (BIM) software applications while working from a remote location. They collaborate with architects, engineers, and construction teams to create tools that help manage digital representations of physical and functional aspects of buildings. Their work involves coding, problem-solving, and implementing new features to improve BIM workflows and data interoperability. Remote BIM Software Developers use programming languages such as C#, Python, or JavaScript and may integrate their solutions with popular BIM platforms like Autodesk Revit or Navisworks.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Remote BIM Software Developer, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Remote BIM Software Developer, you need strong programming skills (often in C#, Python, or JavaScript), a solid understanding of Building Information Modeling (BIM) concepts, and experience with software development lifecycles. Familiarity with BIM platforms like Autodesk Revit, Navisworks, or Bentley Systems, as well as APIs and cloud collaboration tools, is typically required, and certifications such as Autodesk Certified Professional can be advantageous. Outstanding problem-solving abilities, self-motivation, and effective remote communication are crucial soft skills in this role. These competencies are essential to deliver high-quality, collaborative BIM solutions efficiently while working independently from any location.

JOB SUMMARY AND PURPOSE:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Full-Stack Software Developer with strong capabilities in Azure, Kubernetes, Java, C#, and React. In this position, you will play a critical role in designing, developing, and maintaining scalable and efficient cloud-native solutions using the Microsoft Azure platform. Your technical expertise will be crucial in driving innovation and delivering high-quality products. Development work will focus on Industrial IoT solutions, including products for welding systems and electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure, as well as Machine Learning applications to analyze and optimize operations.

The ideal candidate can transform concepts into high-quality, production-ready applications, make informed architectural recommendations, and collaborate effectively within a distributed team environment using tools such as Microsoft Teams. This role requires strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently while mentoring other developers.

JOB DESCRIPTION (DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES):

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and translate them into well-defined work items in the product backlog.
  • Design, develop, and maintain cloud-based backend services using Azure technologies. This includes building APIs and communication layers using REST, or other appropriate protocols.
  • Build responsive, user-friendly interfaces using modern web technologies such as HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, leveraging frameworks such as React for component-based UI development.
  • Configure and maintain modern front-end build tools to optimize performance, manage assets, and streamline the development and deployment workflow.
  • Design, implement, and manage Azure infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code principles, ensuring consistent, repeatable, and secure deployments across environments.
  • Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines for automated build, test, and deployment processes leveraging Azure DevOps or similar tools.
  • Perform code reviews, identify performance bottlenecks, and optimize application performance for scalability and reliability.
  • Apply Agile principles to manage development tasks, promote iterative progress, and adapt to changing requirements through continuous feedback and collaboration.
  • Participate in Scrum ceremonies such as sprint planning, stand-ups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives. Use tools like Microsoft DevOps to manage sprint cycles, track progress, and plan development efforts based on backlog items.
  • Lead project workstreams or critical project steps within larger initiatives; ensuring reliability, and roadmap delivery for assigned components
  • Interface with internal and external customers to assist with problem-solving, debug field issues, explain application features, and gather new requirements.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve software defects, issues, and production incidents in a timely manner.
  • Mentor and guide junior developers, providing technical leadership and promoting a collaborative and knowledge-sharing environment.
  • Stay up to date with the latest trends and advancements in Azure and full stack development while evaluating their potential impact on the organization's projects and strategies.
  • Partner with internal and external customers to understand use cases, support field investigations, and explain system capabilities.
  • Contribute to strategic initiatives and take on additional responsibilities as needed to support the companyโ€™s long-term goals and evolving priorities.
  • The selected candidateโ€™s Job Level and Pay Grade will be determined based upon qualifications and experience.

    BASIC REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
  • Minimum of 5+ years of Full Stack development experience.
  • Solid knowledge and hands-on experience with the Java or C# programming language and associated build tools (e.g., Maven, Nuget).
  • Proficiency in front-end development using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, with experience in at least one major JavaScript framework (preferably React).
  • Strong understanding of API design principles and distributed systems architecture, including RESTful services and microservices.
  • Knowledge of database design, query optimization, and performance tuning (preferably MySQL).
  • Extensive hands-on experience with Kubernetes and Microsoft Azure services.
  • Familiarity with Agile development methodologies and working in Scrum teams.
  • Excellent problem-solving and debugging skills for complex software systems.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills for remote and cross-functional collaboration.
