Job Title: BIM Manager – Mechanical Piping Trade LeadJob Description

The BIM Manager – Mechanical Piping Trade Lead leads and manages the mechanical piping BIM coordination team while actively supporting project execution through hands-on modeling, coordination, and drawing production. This role serves as the technical and operational lead for all piping BIM activities, ensuring that all projects are coordinated accurately, efficiently, and in alignment with internal standards, fabrication requirements, and project schedules. The position combines strong leadership with advanced BIM coordination and mechanical piping expertise, functioning as both a manager and a working lead within the department.

Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage the mechanical piping BIM coordination team to ensure high-quality project delivery.
  • Perform hands-on 3D modeling of mechanical piping systems using Autodesk Revit and related BIM tools.
  • Oversee and execute BIM coordination for mechanical piping, ensuring accurate alignment with other trades and disciplines.
  • Produce detailed drawings and documentation to support fabrication, installation, and construction activities.
  • Serve as the technical and operational lead for all mechanical piping BIM activities across assigned projects.
  • Ensure all BIM deliverables comply with internal standards, project specifications, fabrication requirements, and schedules.
  • Coordinate and manage clash detection processes using Navisworks Manage and related tools.
  • Review and interpret construction documents, specifications, and mechanical piping isometrics to guide coordination and modeling.
  • Support constructability reviews by identifying and resolving potential conflicts and issues in the virtual model.
  • Implement and maintain BIM/VDC coordination workflows for mechanical piping projects.
  • Collaborate closely with project teams, engineers, and field personnel to align BIM models with real-world construction practices.
  • Provide leadership, mentorship, and guidance to BIM coordinators and modelers within the mechanical piping team.
  • Communicate clearly with stakeholders to report progress, resolve issues, and support project decision-making.
  • Organize and prioritize work to meet project deadlines and maintain efficient coordination processes.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical and coordination challenges related to mechanical piping BIM models.
Essential Skills
  • Minimum 5–10 years of experience in mechanical piping detailing, BIM coordination, or VDC leadership.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical piping systems, fabrication methods, and construction practices.
  • Advanced proficiency with Autodesk Revit for mechanical piping modeling and coordination.
  • Advanced proficiency with Navisworks Manage for clash detection and coordination.
  • Strong knowledge of BIM/VDC coordination workflows for mechanical systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction documents, specifications, and mechanical piping isometrics.
  • Strong knowledge of clash detection, coordination processes, and constructability review.
  • Demonstrated leadership and team management experience in a BIM or VDC environment.
  • Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary project teams.
  • Strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks, deadlines, and coordination activities.
  • Effective problem-solving skills to identify and resolve design and coordination issues.
  • Proficiency with mechanical engineering, design engineering, and piping design concepts.
  • Experience using AutoCAD for mechanical piping and coordination-related tasks.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience with fabrication software platforms such as Autodesk Fabrication CADmep.
  • Experience working with Revit Fabrication Parts for detailed mechanical piping modeling.
  • Experience with Stratus or similar fabrication and construction management platforms (preferred but not required).
  • Background in mechanical engineering or a related discipline is beneficial.
  • Experience in leading BIM or VDC teams within mechanical or piping-focused projects.
  • Familiarity with industry best practices for virtual design and construction in mechanical trades.
Work Environment

The role operates in a technology-driven environment focused on Building Information Modeling and Virtual Design and Construction for mechanical piping systems. You will work extensively with Autodesk Revit, Navisworks Manage, AutoCAD, and fabrication platforms such as Autodesk Fabrication CADmep, Revit Fabrication Parts, and potentially Stratus. This is a Contract position based out of Cincinnati, OH.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $45.00 - $53.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
