Billing Specialist (Remote)

Location: Remote
Schedule: Full-Time, Monday–Friday (40 hours/week)
Compensation: $26–$30 per hour

Our team partners with employers and insurance carriers to simplify benefit administration, resolve billing challenges, and deliver exceptional service through collaboration, accuracy, and innovation.

Position Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented and client-focused Billing Specialist to join our growing team. This role serves as a vital partner to our Client Services team, managing relationships with client HR and Payroll departments, insurance carriers, and internal stakeholders to ensure accurate payroll deductions, billing reconciliation, and premium payment processing.

The ideal candidate is highly organized, thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys problem-solving, and is committed to delivering outstanding client service. This position requires strong analytical skills, an advanced understanding of Excel, and the ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining accuracy and professionalism.

 

What You'll Do

Client & Carrier Support

  • Serve as a primary point of contact for client HR, Payroll, Accounts Payable, and insurance carrier representatives.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients and carrier partners.
  • Partner with insurance carriers to resolve billing, payroll deduction, and enrollment-related issues.
  • Lead client and carrier meetings to review billing activity, address concerns, and drive resolutions.

Billing & Payroll Deduction Management

  • Review and reconcile carrier invoices and client payroll deductions.
  • Monitor premium payments and identify discrepancies requiring adjustment.
  • Prepare monthly reports to initiate and maintain payroll deductions.
  • Analyze deduction and payment data to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Manage escalated billing issues and guide stakeholders toward timely resolution.

Data Management & Reporting

  • Maintain client administrative data and tracking systems within Salesforce and Excel.
  • Update and manage sensitive employee and billing information with the highest level of confidentiality.
  • Create and maintain reporting tools to track deductions, billing activity, and payment status.
  • Support process improvement initiatives to increase efficiency and accuracy.

 

Compliance & Security

  • Administer secure file transfers containing confidential and protected information.
  • Adhere to company policies and industry standards regarding data privacy and information security.

What You'll Bring

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent post-secondary education.
  • 3–5 years of relevant experience in client services, account coordination, human resources, benefits administration, payroll, or a related field.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and strong skills in Microsoft Word and Outlook.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and ability to manage large volumes of data accurately.
  • Proven experience building and maintaining positive client relationships.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a professional and diplomatic approach.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to prioritize competing responsibilities.
  • Experience leading meetings and coordinating multiple stakeholders toward successful outcomes.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving and conflict resolution skills.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a collaborative team environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Salesforce CRM.
  • Experience with SharePoint.
  • Background in employee benefits, insurance administration, payroll, or billing operations.
