Position Summary
 The Senior Financial Business Partner performs in-depth analyses of organizational financial performance measures and statistical data related to many aspects of the business. This position is responsible for data collection, analysis, reconciliation, review/evaluation and reporting in appropriate formats detailed financial analyses of various operational activities. This position is also responsible for the timely and accurate identification and analysis of projects based on current and strategic business needs to include: the detailed preparation, analysis and presentation of Return on Investments (ROIs), Business Case Analyses (BCAs) and Cost Benefit Analyses (CBAs). The position also participates in monthly accounting closing activities, facilitates provider compensation, team projects, departmental budget support and analysis, various special analytical assignments and other tasks as assigned. The Senior Finance Business Partner will interact with staff, management and senior leadership, other departments, external organizations, and other members of the Finance Department on a regular basis.

Key Outcomes:

  • Prepares and analyzes new business proposals to ensure that business decisions are made with all known facts available. Creates financial pro-formas that identify best strategies for margin improvements, providing recommendations to the project teams on what can be leveraged to drive improved financial positioning.
  • Serves as a mentor and learning resource to Financial Business Partners/Analysts within and outside the Finance Department
  • Prepares presentations and proposals, recommending best business practices from analytic findings to leadership. Effectively uses strong communication skills to facilitate understanding among various audiences.
  • Ability to work effectively with multi-disciplinary professional and technical staff, as well as work independently to ensure timely and accurate project completion, maintaining a high degree of professionalism and confidentiality.
  • Analyzes monthly financial reporting to ensure accuracy and completeness; proactively working with customers to identify areas of opportunities and strategies for improvement.
  • Prepares ad hoc financial and operational analyses to address specific business questions or decisions. Develops special analytical reports and compilation of data in support of own assigned projects or to aid other Analysts in their assigned projects.
  • Develops forecasting tools and methodologies that can be deployed at the corporate level, and to the departments to better link the operational units to corporate strategies.
  • Ensures that comprehensive reports are provided in a timely, accurate and user appropriate format.
  • Utilizes the internet and other professional data sources to research data as required, demonstrating advanced capability including familiarity with healthcare related sites

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business, Health Care Administration or related field(s), Master's degree preferred.
  • 6+ years of financial experience in the areas of health care delivery/operations or health insurance industry in increasingly responsible positions.
  • Experience with health insurance systems including managed care, reimbursements, medical expense, provider compensation and various contractual arrangements.
  • Experience with financial reporting and budgeting/forecasting software such as SQL, Axiom, Cognos, & Oracle
  • Understanding of and experience with general accounting, GAAP, and financial reporting.
  • Experience with leading and completing all aspects of detailed business case analyses (BCAs), return on investments (ROIs) and other strategic initiatives from start to finish.
  • Experience with accounting, budgeting and forecasting methodologies

  • Outstanding analytical abilities, presentation skills (to include both materials - i.e. graphs/charts/presentations and delivery).
  • Exceptional time management skills to prioritize and complete competing tasks on time

  • Proven ability to document key activities in a user appropriate format.
  • Advanced skills in MS-Office products and strong user skills in financial software.
