Job description

Centurion is proud to be the provider of medical, mental health and dental services to the Florida Department of Corrections. 

We are currently seeking a full-time American Sign Language (ASL) Staff Interpreter to join our Florida Team.

This position will be based on-site, at a facility (either Columbia Correctional Institution in Lake City or Suwannee Correctional Institution in Live Oak, FL), providing video remote services. 

The American Sign Language (ASL) Staff Interpreter is responsible for conducting interpretation for medical, mental health, and dental appointments of patients across the state to include a variety of psychological and medical assessment appointments. The Sign Language Interpreter translates questions, requests, and/or statements clearly and accurately, attending to and conveying tone, intention, nuance, etc., assesses patients and monitors them to ensure they understand information being conveyed, assists the company with written and oral communication as needed, submits translations to appropriate management for review as needed, and relays pertinent cultural issues and considerations to professionals. 

  • ASL certification is required
  • Competency with computer video platforms such as TEAMS and Zoom required
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Excel and Word preferred
  • Requires both onsite and remote work
  • Ability to obtain agency security clearance required

Available Shift: 7:30AM-4PM Eastern; Monday-Friday, with some flexibility of start and stop times.
