Senior Data Engineer

Role Summary

As a Senior Data Engineer, you will design, develop, and support scalable data solutions that enable critical business capabilities across Citizens. You will partner with architects, data engineers, analysts, and business stakeholders to build and maintain data pipelines, data models, and platform capabilities that help drive analytics, operational insights, AI initiatives, and business decision making.

This role requires a strong foundation in modern data engineering practices across cloud platforms, distributed data systems, data integration, and data modeling. Experience with graph database technologies such as Neo4j is highly valued, particularly for connected data use cases involving relationship analysis, knowledge graphs, and advanced data discovery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines supporting batch and real time processing workloads.
  • Develop and optimize data integration solutions across multiple enterprise data sources and platforms.
  • Design and implement data models supporting analytics, reporting, operational, and AI driven use cases.
  • Build and maintain data products that improve accessibility, quality, and usability of enterprise data.
  • Partner with business and technology stakeholders to translate requirements into scalable data solutions.
  • Contribute to modern cloud based data architecture and platform modernization initiatives.
  • Support graph data capabilities and connected data use cases utilizing technologies such as Neo4j where appropriate.
  • Develop APIs, services, and integration patterns that enable secure and efficient access to enterprise data.
  • Monitor and optimize data platform performance, reliability, availability, and scalability.
  • Establish and promote best practices for data engineering, data quality, testing, and operational support.
  • Collaborate with data science and analytics teams to support machine learning, AI, and advanced analytics initiatives.

Preferred Technical Expertise

  • Strong experience building enterprise scale data pipelines and data platforms.
  • Expertise with modern data engineering technologies such as Spark, Databricks, Kafka, Snowflake, Azure Data Services, AWS Data Services, or similar platforms.
  • Strong proficiency in SQL and Python.
  • Experience with relational and non relational database technologies.
  • Experience with graph databases such as Neo4j is preferred.
  • Knowledge of data modeling, data governance, metadata management, and data quality practices.
  • Experience supporting both batch and streaming data architectures.
  • Familiarity with cloud native architectures and distributed systems.
  • Understanding of data integration patterns, APIs, and event driven architectures.
  • Experience supporting AI, machine learning, or advanced analytics workloads.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, Data Science, or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in data engineering, software engineering, or data platform development.
  • Experience developing and supporting enterprise data platforms in cloud environments.
  • Experience with graph technologies, Neo4j, knowledge graphs, or connected data architectures preferred.
  • Experience working in Agile environments and collaborating across cross functional teams.
  • Strong problem solving, communication, and stakeholder management skills.

Pay Transparency

The salary range for this position is $105,000-158,000 per year, plus an opportunity to earn an annual discretionary bonus. Actual pay is based on various factors including but not limited to the work location, and relevant skills and experience.
