Remote Azure Support Engineer information

What is a Remote Azure Support Engineer?

A Remote Azure Support Engineer is an IT professional who provides technical assistance and troubleshooting for Microsoft Azure cloud services, working from a remote location. They help customers resolve issues related to Azure infrastructure, networking, security, and application deployment. These engineers typically communicate with clients via email, chat, or phone to diagnose and solve problems, implement solutions, and ensure optimal use of Azure services. In addition, they may provide guidance on best practices, monitor system performance, and escalate complex issues as needed.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Remote Azure Support Engineer?

To thrive as a Remote Azure Support Engineer, you need a strong understanding of Microsoft Azure services, cloud computing concepts, and troubleshooting methodologies, typically backed by a degree in computer science or a related field. Familiarity with tools like Azure Portal, PowerShell, Azure CLI, and certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate are highly valuable. Excellent problem-solving abilities, communication skills, and a customer-focused mindset help you resolve issues efficiently and provide high-quality support remotely. These skills and qualifications are vital to ensuring system reliability, resolving technical challenges quickly, and maintaining customer satisfaction in a dynamic cloud environment.

What are some common challenges faced by Remote Azure Support Engineers and how can they be managed effectively?

Remote Azure Support Engineers often encounter challenges such as troubleshooting complex cloud environments without physical access to client infrastructure, managing multiple high-priority tickets simultaneously, and keeping up with frequent Azure updates. Effective communication skills and a structured approach to problem-solving are essential, as much of the support work involves collaborating with customers and internal teams through virtual channels. Staying current with Azure documentation and actively participating in knowledge-sharing within the team can help engineers resolve issues efficiently and stay ahead of technological changes.

Job description

Description
AITAN is building the operating platform for multi-drone warfare, a battle-proven system that augments, deploys, and orchestrates autonomous drone fleets across any mission, any environment, and any vendor. With over 500,000 hours of frontline operational use and TRL-9 validation, our software is not a prototype. It runs in combat, every day, shaping outcomes in some of the most contested and complex environments on earth.
We unify drone control, edge-AI processing, and mission execution into a single operational loop, from detection to decision to strike. Our platform gives a single operator the ability to command and coordinate an entire fleet in real time: persistent aerial surveillance, automated target recognition, shared tactical picture, and seamless handoff from ISR to kinetic response, without manual delay.
We are expanding our US engineering team in the New York metropolitan area. Our office is easily accessible from New York City. If you want to work on technology that matters, not in a lab, but validated in the field, this is the role for you.
The Role
We are looking for a Field Support Engineer to own the technical execution of AITAN deployments, demonstrations, and customer engagements. You will work side by side with our business development teams and serve as the lead engineer on the ground, responsible for every technical aspect of a site visit: system setup and integration, pre-event testing, live operational support, and post-event debrief with engineering.
This role sits at the intersection of engineering, operations, and customer success. You will be the first to expose real-world gaps in the system and the first to resolve them under pressure. Your field feedback will directly shape the product roadmap. You will train customers, earn their trust, and represent AITAN at the highest standard in front of military, border security, and government decision-makers.
The role requires frequent domestic and international travel to customer sites and demonstration events.
What you'll do
  • Own all technical and engineering aspects of on-site demonstrations and field deployments: system transport, assembly, configuration, integration, and pre-event validation
  • Plan and execute pre-demonstration test sequences covering hardware, software, RF links, networking, and drone operations to ensure system readiness before every event
  • Serve as lead engineer during live demonstrations and customer engagements, providing real-time technical support to business development and Go-To-Market teams and responding to unexpected issues on the spot
  • Deploy, commission, and configure AITAN systems at customer sites, including network setup, RF communication links, hardware bring-up, and software configuration
  • Train customer operators and technical staff on system operation, maintenance, and best practices, adapting training programs to audience background and mission context
  • Provide ongoing technical support to fielded customers, diagnosing and resolving issues remotely and on-site as needed
  • Operate drones during demonstrations and field activities, ensuring safe and effective flight in coordination with operators and site safety requirements
  • Maintain detailed records of system configurations, known issues, and field incidents, and translate hands-on experience into clear, structured feedback for engineering and product teams
  • Stay current with all system versions, firmware updates, and configuration changes; maintain field documentation and deployment guides in sync with the latest platform state
  • Collaborate closely with engineering, product, and business development and Go-To-Market teams, acting as the primary voice of the customer inside the company

Requirements
  • B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering, or equivalent practical experience
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience in field engineering, systems integration, technical support, or field operations in a defense, aerospace, or autonomous systems environment
  • Strong technical foundation spanning software, hardware, RF communications, and networking; comfortable diagnosing and resolving complex, multi-domain issues in the field
  • Experience with RF communication systems, wireless links, and network setup in operational environments
  • Hands-on experience with operating systems (Windows, Linux, or macOS), command-line tools, and scripting for diagnostics and configuration
  • Proven ability to operate calmly and effectively under pressure, in high-visibility environments with limited support
  • Strong understanding of drone and UAV systems, including operational concepts, system components, and mission workflows
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; comfortable engaging directly with military officers, government officials, and senior customer stakeholders
  • Willingness and ability to travel frequently, domestically and internationally, including to austere or remote environments
  • Eligible to obtain a US security clearance

Strong fit if
  • You have military background as a drone operator, UAS technician, or field engineer in a combat or operational unit
  • You have experience supporting live military demonstrations, field exercises, or government customer evaluations
  • You have held an active US security clearance
  • You have experience with multi-drone systems, fleet operations, or autonomous UAS platforms
  • You are a licensed drone pilot (FAA Part 107 or military equivalent) with real operational flying experience
  • You have experience with tactical networking, mesh radio systems, or military communication protocols
  • You are fluent in reading schematics and comfortable performing basic hardware repairs or modifications in the field
  • You have worked as the sole technical owner on a customer site, without backup, and made it work

Benefits:
  • Dental Insurance
  • Health Insurance
  • Paid time off
  • Vision Insurance

Location: Mahwah, NJ (travel required)
Compensation: $100,000 - $130,000 base salary
