Job description

DevAltus is a cloud-native consultancy delivering secure, scalable, and high-performance infrastructure solutions for enterprise clients. We're hiring an On-Prem and COTS Migration Lead to guide the planning, execution, and delivery of large-scale migrations from legacy and on-premises systems to modern cloud service providers (e.g., Azure).

Responsibilities
  • Lead and support application and infrastructure migrations from on-premises into Azure, including workloads running on platforms such as vSphere and Pure Storage
  • Lead assessment and upgrade of legacy commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) software as part of cloud migration efforts
  • Architect and implement Azure-based infrastructure following Azure Well-Architected Framework principles
  • Write, review, and maintain Bicep or Terraform IaC modules for infrastructure provisioning
  • Build and maintain scalable CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions or Azure DevOps Pipelines
  • Manage Azure-native services including VMs, AKS, ACR, App Services, Storage Accounts, SQL Database, Cosmos DB, Azure AD, Front Door, Application Gateway, and Azure Monitor/Log Analytics
  • Design multi-subscription and hub-and-spoke networking topologies using Azure Management Groups, Virtual WAN, Private Link, and RBAC
  • Deploy, configure, and manage Palo Alto firewalls in Azure, integrating with ExpressRoute, hybrid connectivity, and secure inter-VNet communications
  • Debug and optimize Azure RBAC policies, Managed Identity integrations, and inter-service networking (VNets, NSGs, UDRs, Peering)
  • Monitor and troubleshoot infrastructure with Azure Monitor, Application Insights, and Dynatrace
  • Guide security and compliance practices (Azure AD SSO/SAML, Key Vault encryption, Azure Backup/Recovery Vault, resource tagging, policy enforcement, etc.)
  • Document architecture and processes; support teams across US time zones
Qualifications

Work Authorization: Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship.

Location Requirement: Must be a resident of the continental United States.

  • Minimum 12+ years overall work experience in related fields
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience leading or executing on-premises-to-cloud migrations, including migration planning, workload assessment, and cutover execution
  • 2+ years of experience with on-premises infrastructure (physical servers, legacy networking, and data center operations)
  • Experience assessing and upgrading legacy or COTS software systems as part of modernization or migration projects
  • 6+ years of hands-on DevOps or Cloud Engineering experience, including production-grade Azure infrastructure and core services
  • Deep knowledge of Azure core services and architecture patterns
  • Strong experience with Terraform, Bicep, or ARM templates
  • Proficiency in container tooling (Docker, AKS, or Container Apps preferred)
  • Solid understanding of Azure AD/RBAC, networking (VNets, NSGs, subnets), and monitoring best practices
  • Experience with CI/CD automation (GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps Pipelines, or Jenkins)
  • Strong scripting skills in Python, Bash, or Go
  • Understanding of Java
  • Excellent communication skills and experience supporting distributed teams
Preferred
  • Experience with vSphere and Pure Storage in enterprise environments
  • Familiarity with hybrid networking scenarios (VPN, ExpressRoute Global Reach)
  • Exposure to enterprise compliance frameworks (CIS, NIST) and experience collaborating with SOC/SIEM teams
  • Knowledge of QRadar or similar SIEM platforms
  • Experience integrating third-party APIs into cloud platforms
  • Proficiency with Power BI, including building dashboards from Azure service data sources
  • Exposure to FinOps practices (Azure Cost Management, budgets, and governance for cost optimization)
