Job description

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Kforce's client is seeking a Remote AWS Engineer to lead the next phase of our cloud infrastructure - moving from a largely single-region, single-account model to a mature, multi-account AWS Organization with regional redundancy, international readiness, and enterprise-grade security governance.
Summary:
This is a hands-on technical leadership role. You will architect and build the AWS organizational structure we need for the next five years: defining OU design, authoring SCP and RCP policy frameworks, enabling multi-region and multi-AZ deployments for all production workloads, implementing Landing Zone best practices, and conducting a full security and resource hygiene remediation across our existing accounts. You will also own day-to-day operations of our core AWS services - containers, databases, networking, CI/CD, observability, and secrets - while partnering with application, data, and security teams.
Key Responsibilities:
* Design and build scalable, multi-account AWS environments using AWS Organizations, Control Tower, and Landing Zone best practices
* Implement multi-region and multi-AZ architectures for high availability and disaster recovery
* Define and enforce cloud governance using SCPs and security best practices
* Own Infrastructure as Code (CloudFormation) with reusable, modular templates
* Manage core AWS services (ECS/Fargate, Aurora PostgreSQL, VPC networking, IAM, Route 53, S3)
* Design and maintain secure networking (Transit Gateway, ALB/NLB, hybrid connectivity)
* Build CI/CD pipelines for infrastructure and deployments
* Establish monitoring, logging, and observability across environments
* Lead security, compliance, and remediation efforts
* Partner with engineering, data, and security teams to support scalable platform operations
REQUIREMENTS:
* 8+ years of hands-on experience designing and supporting AWS infrastructure in production environments
* Proven experience building and managing multi-account AWS environments using AWS Organizations
* Deep expertise with AWS Control Tower, Landing Zone architecture, and SCP design
* Strong experience with containerized workloads (ECS/Fargate) and relational databases (Aurora PostgreSQL)
* Advanced knowledge of AWS networking, including VPC design, Transit Gateway, and load balancing
* Expertise in IAM, identity federation, and least-privilege access models
* Proficiency with Infrastructure as Code (CloudFormation required; Terraform is a plus)
* Experience designing highly available, multi-AZ and multi-region architectures
* Hands-on experience with AWS security and compliance tooling (e.g., CloudTrail, Config, GuardDuty, Security Hub)
* Experience building CI/CD pipelines for infrastructure and platform deployments
* Strong scripting skills (Python and/or Bash) for automation and operational tooling
Preferred Qualifications:
* AWS Certified Solutions Architect (Professional) or equivalent advanced certifications
* Experience with advanced AWS networking or security certifications
* Familiarity with Terraform-based account provisioning (e.g., AFT) or Landing Zone Accelerator
* Experience with hybrid cloud environments (AWS + Azure)
* Background in regulated industries (finance, insurance, healthcare) with compliance requirements
* Experience supporting analytics platforms such as Databricks or data lake architectures
