About the Role
This role is responsible for the operation, performance, reliability and security of Keeper's cloud database environments. The ideal candidate has deep experience administering MySQL and AWS database services, along with a strong foundation in database architecture, replication, backup and recovery, and production operations. This role will also help drive modern database management practices, including the use of AI to improve DBA workflows and the use of infrastructure-as-code tools such as Liquibase to manage database schema changes in a controlled, repeatable manner.
Responsibilities
  • Maintain databases across development, QA and production environments in multiple regions
  • Continually improve database performance, efficiency, reliability and security
  • Design and support fault-tolerant, highly available database architecture, including replication, failover and disaster recovery capabilities
  • Administer and optimize AWS database services such as RDS, Redshift and DynamoDB
  • Collaborate with DevOps, Engineering and Software Development teams on query optimization, schema design and database management best practices
  • Evaluate, test and deploy database changes that support new system deployments, product features and platform improvements
  • Manage backup and restore procedures, database monitoring, alerting and incident response
  • Help standardize and automate database operations using repeatable tooling and infrastructure-as-code practices
  • Use AI-enabled tools and workflows to improve DBA productivity, troubleshooting, analysis and operational efficiency
  • Participate in a 24/7 on-call rotation to support production systems and resolve escalated issues

Requirements
  • 6+ years of experience administering and operating MySQL databases in production environments
  • Strong experience with AWS database services, including RDS, and familiarity with services such as Redshift and DynamoDB
  • Expert knowledge of database administration best practices, including performance tuning, backup and restore, replication, disaster recovery and security
  • Experience designing and supporting highly available, fault-tolerant database architectures
  • Experience evaluating, implementing and maintaining database schema changes in controlled production environments
  • Experience with infrastructure-as-code or database change management tooling, including Liquibase
  • Ability to use AI tools effectively to support DBA workflows such as troubleshooting, automation, analysis and operational efficiency
  • Strong documentation and design discipline, with an engineering-first approach to planning and implementation
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or a related technical discipline, or equivalent practical experience
  • Due to this role's involvement in regulated cloud environments, all applicants must be a U.S. Person, defined as a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident

  • Experience with database automation, scripting and operational tooling
