The Role  

Theâ¯Seniorâ¯Business Development Managerâ¯focused on the Food & Beverage and Consumer Goods business role atâ¯Convergixâ¯Automation isâ¯responsible forâ¯enablingâ¯account managers to hit salesâ¯targets by creating, sustaining, and cultivating business relationships andâ¯partnerships.â¯The role requires frequent client interaction as well as internal communication withâ¯our salesâ¯team to develop solutions that meet the customer’s needs and ultimately drive success as measured by our Net Promoters Score process.⯠

The Senior Business Development Manager will lead prospecting efforts for custom Automation Solutions, with a primary focus on the Food & Beverage (F&B) and Consumer Products (CPG) sectors serving as the cornerstone of the role. Think of logos similar to Hershey’s, Cargill, P&G, Tyson Foods, Kraft Heinz, etc. While F&B and CPG will represent the heaviest concentration of activity, this position also carries meaningful engagement across a broad range of industries, including but not limited to Aerospace, Agriculture, Automotive, Electric Vehicle, Energy, Furniture and Appliances, Logistics, Medical, Military, Recreational Vehicle and Transportation, and Oil and Gas. This position reports to the SVP Business Development and President Emeritus. 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Generate a company target in volume (dollar value) in new, qualified leads for Account Managers  
  • Identify and prospect new business opportunities through market research, trade shows, networking, referrals, and account managers, documenting all activity in the CRM. 
  • Build and maintain a pipeline of qualified leads to ensure consistent sales activity, with regular forecasts of expected booking potential from future opportunities. 
  • Establish and nurture long-term relationships with key decision-makers (C-level executives, managers, etc.) to win and retain repeat business. 
  • Understand clients' needs and challenges to tailor Convergix solutions and develop a Win Strategy framework for each pursuit. 
  • Frame business development strategies that achieve revenue targets and growth goals. 
  • Deliver sales presentations and proposals, resolving objections to move prospects through the sales funnel. 
  • Track and analyze sales data in the CRM to optimize strategies, improve conversion rates, and report on pipeline status and performance to senior management. 
  • Partner with marketing and sales directors to align business development efforts with company offerings across business units, and relay client feedback to refine services. 
  • Monitor industry trends and competitor activity to stay ahead of market changes and opportunities. 
  • Ensure a smooth handoff from business development to account management to protect client satisfaction and retention. 
  • Represent Convergix at industry events, trade shows, and conferences as a spokesperson and advocate — promoting the company's vision, culture, and values, generating leads, and supporting the go-to-market plan. 

Qualifications and Experience  

Essential 

  • College degree (Business or Engineering), or equivalent work experience⯠
  • 5+ years’ experience in Automation equipment, Controls, Mechanical designs, and Robotics (Preferably sales and/or engineering)â¯â¯ 
  • Proven Successful history of selling solutions & equipment, meeting or exceeding KPI’s.⯠
  • Technical aptitude to adequately qualify opportunities and communicate within internal engineering teams.⯠
  • Deep understanding of the automation market
