Job description

OCCU is a member-owned credit union based in Eugene, Oregon, guided by a clear and meaningful vision: to Enrich Lives. This purpose drives everything we do, from how we serve our members to how we support one another as colleagues. With a strong commitment to community impact, OCCU lives its values of tenacity, humility, and big-heartedness every day.

This remote role requires current California residency, ideally in Northern, Central, or Southern California, to support efficient travel and strong local market insight. The position offers a competitive salary range of $96,824 - $128,365, depending on experience and regional location.

About the role:

We are seeking an experienced and relationship-driven Regional Dealership Development Officer or Indirect Lending Business Development Officer (BDO) to expand and strengthen OCCU’s dealer network across California.

This is a high-visibility, field-focused position for someone who thrives in dealership environments, especially on the sales side. You’ll represent OCCU at partner dealerships, build influential relationships, drive indirect lending volume, and ensure compliance with OCCU’s standards. This role requires frequent travel, including evenings and weekends, and a strong ability to operate independently while maintaining exceptional communication with internal teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Promote OCCU’s Indirect Lending products and services to dealership leaders and staff.
  • Build new dealer partnerships and strengthen existing franchise and independent relationships.
  • Develop outreach plans to grow dealer penetration and loan volume.
  • Follow up on leads and referrals from field activity.
  • Train dealership staff on OCCU expectations, procedures, guidelines, and contracts.
  • Liaise with dealers, underwriting, and Indirect Lending to support smooth deal flow.
  • Identify and report dealer issues, misrepresentation, or compliance concerns.
  • Maintain strong knowledge of indirect lending regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Complete dealer visits and record outcomes daily per Dealer Management guidelines.
  • Support marketing events, partnership activities, and required training.
  • Monitor competitor rates, market trends, and dealer performance to guide strategy.
  • Resolve member, dealer, and branch disputes; manage ServiceNow complaints promptly.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Minimum of eight years of in-dealership experience as a F&I Manager/Director, Sales Manager, GSM, or GM.
  • At least three years of indirect lending experience, preferably within a financial institution.
  • Advanced knowledge of dealership variable operations and automotive lending.
  • Strong relationship-building, communication, and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to travel frequently throughout California and work evenings/weekends as needed.
  • High level of stress tolerance, professionalism, and independent judgment.
  • Valid driver’s license, acceptable driving record.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.

Why Join OCCU:

OCCU offers a comprehensive compensation and benefits package designed to support your well-being and professional growth, including:

  • Low-cost medical, dental, and vision insurance
  • 401(k) retirement plan with employer match
  • Paid time off plus 13 paid holidays
  • Tuition reimbursement for eligible education and training
  • Company-paid long-term disability
  • 40 hours of company-paid core time annually for full-time employees to participate in community volunteer opportunities

OCCU is an Equal Opportunity Employer and welcomes applications from all qualified candidates. If you meet the qualifications passionate about building strong dealership partnerships, driving indirect lending growth, and representing OCCU’s mission across California, we encourage you to apply.
