Job description

COMPANY OVERVIEW:
Founded in 1989, United Automobile Insurance Company is an innovative and established organization looking for a Pricing Actuary Lead (open rank) to join our team. Family-owned, UAIC, is one of the largest privately held property and casualty insurance companies in the United States. The key to our growth and success is a commitment to providing quality service to our agents and customers, by providing disciplined underwriting, and strategic claims handling. Our ongoing efforts to invest substantial resources in personnel and technology are the foundation of our promise of assuring maximum efficiency and specialized operations in the industry. We are proud that our independent agents and customers have recognized our dedication by making UAIC the market leader in every state where we conduct business.
SCOPE:
We're looking for a Pricing Actuary Lead (open rank) to help lead pricing strategy and execution across our product portfolio. This role is ideal for a data-driven insurance professional with strong actuarial and business instincts who's ready to drive pricing performance and partner closely with Product, Underwriting, and Analytics teams. You'll play a critical role in shaping rate adequacy, competitiveness, and profitability in a dynamic, fast-paced non-standard auto insurance market. This is a remote position and the ideal candidate is located in the Southeast Region.
DUTIES:
  • Help lead the design and implementation of pricing strategies, ensuring alignment with profitability and growth targets.
  • Oversee rate reviews and pricing model development across states and segments.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Product, Underwriting, Reserving and Claims to inform pricing decisions and support new product initiatives.
  • Drive rate filing strategies, including preparation of actuarial support and regulatory responses.
  • Monitor performance metrics such as loss ratios, retention, and conversion to evaluate pricing effectiveness and recommend adjustments.
  • Ensure compliance with actuarial standards and regulatory requirements across jurisdictions.
  • Develop predictive models to improve product segmentation and pricing.

EDUCATION:
  • Bachelor's degree in actuarial science, mathematics, statistics, economics, finance, or related field required.
  • ACAS designation preferred; progress toward actuarial credentials is a plus.
  • Master's degree in quantitative discipline is a plus.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:
  • 5+ years of pricing experience in P&C insurance, preferably in personal or non-standard auto.
  • Commercial lines knowledge a plus.
  • Deep understanding of actuarial pricing methods, loss cost modeling, and competitive analysis.
  • Proficiency in tools such as Excel, SQL, R, Python, or actuarial software (e.g., Emblem, Radar).
  • Experience supporting rate filings and communicating with regulators.
  • Strong strategic thinking, business judgment, and communication skills.
  • Familiarity with Florida and Texas markets is a strong plus.
BENEFITS:
  • 401(k) Retirement Savings Plan with employer match.
  • Comprehensive Medical, Prescription Drug, Vision, and Dental Insurance
  • Paid Time Off, Holidays, and Leave programs.
  • Flexible spending accounts
  • Basic Life Insurance and Voluntary Life/ADD
  • Short Term and Long-Term Disability
