Remote Automotive Engineering information

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Remote Automotive Engineer, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Remote Automotive Engineer, you need a solid background in mechanical or electrical engineering, automotive system design, and a relevant engineering degree. Familiarity with CAD software, vehicle simulation tools, and remote collaboration platforms is typically expected, along with certifications like FE or PE being advantageous. Strong problem-solving abilities, self-motivation, and clear communication are vital soft skills for excelling in a remote environment. These skills ensure engineers can effectively design, test, and coordinate projects from a distance, maintaining high standards in both technical performance and teamwork.

What is remote automotive engineering?

Remote automotive engineering refers to the practice of designing, developing, and testing automotive systems and components from a location outside of a traditional office or laboratory setting. Using advanced software, virtual collaboration tools, and remote access to testing facilities, engineers can contribute to automotive projects from anywhere in the world. This setup enables companies to tap into a wider talent pool and offers engineers more flexibility, while still maintaining high standards in vehicle design, safety, and innovation.

What are some common challenges faced by remote automotive engineers, and how can they be addressed?

Remote automotive engineers often encounter challenges such as coordinating with cross-functional teams spread across different locations and ensuring access to secure design data and proprietary tools. Effective communication through regular virtual meetings, utilizing collaborative CAD platforms, and maintaining clear documentation are key strategies to mitigate these issues. Many companies also provide remote access to simulation software and cloud-based project management tools, making it easier to stay productive and aligned with project goals. Building strong relationships with in-office team members and proactively seeking feedback can further enhance collaboration and project success.

To support specialized hiring across motorsports, performance automotive, high-performance engineering, and technical business functions, the talent team needs a senior recruiter who understands niche automotive talent markets and can build strong pipelines of specialized candidates. We're hiring a Senior Recruiter – Motorsports & Performance Recruiting to do exactly that.

About the Role

This is a specialized recruiting role focused on identifying, engaging, and hiring top talent across motorsports, performance automotive, aftermarket automotive, and high-performance engineering environments. You'll operate as a full-cycle recruiting partner, working closely with hiring managers to define talent needs, build sourcing strategies, engage passive candidates, and deliver an exceptional candidate experience from first outreach through offer and onboarding.

What You'll Do

Full-Cycle Recruiting

  • Lead full-cycle recruiting for technical, engineering, manufacturing, business, and professional positions
  • Manage candidate screenings, interview coordination, offer support, and onboarding activities
  • Maintain a high-quality candidate experience throughout the recruitment process

Specialized Talent Sourcing

  • Source and engage passive candidates in niche motorsports, performance automotive, aftermarket automotive, and high-performance engineering markets
  • Build pipelines of specialized talent, including engineers, technicians, program managers, business professionals, and leadership candidates
  • Use networking, referrals, market mapping, LinkedIn Recruiter, industry associations, and sourcing tools to identify top talent

Hiring Manager Partnership

  • Partner directly with hiring managers to understand role requirements, define talent needs, and develop recruiting strategies
  • Provide consultative guidance on candidate availability, compensation expectations, and market competitiveness
  • Support intake discussions, calibration, candidate review, and hiring decision alignment

Market Intelligence & Pipeline Development

  • Provide market intelligence, talent availability insights, and compensation data to support hiring strategy
  • Build long-term relationships within motorsports, performance automotive, and technical talent communities
  • Represent the organization within relevant industry communities, networks, and events

ATS, CRM & Process Management

  • Maintain accurate ATS and CRM data
  • Track pipeline activity, candidate status, and recruiting progress
  • Ensure recruiting workflows are organized, compliant, and aligned with business needs
What We Need to See

  • Strong communication, stakeholder management, and relationship-building skills
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-growth environment
Bonus Points
  • Understanding of vehicle performance systems, racing operations, and automotive engineering disciplines
  • Existing network within the motorsports or performance automotive community
  • Experience supporting motorsports, performance automotive, aftermarket automotive, or high-performance engineering teams strongly preferred
