Job description

Senior Dynatrace Observability SME- Remote
No 3rd PARTIES or Sponsorships
100% Remote
6 Month Contract
Great Company
Unlimited Growth
*100% Client facing role, so outstanding communication and professionalism is a must
*Very detailed job description and required skill set
*Dynatrace, Open Telemetry, application performance monitoring, infrastructure observability, and observability modernization.
About the Role
Client is seeking a Senior Dynatrace Observability Consultant to support enterprise client projects focused on observability platform implementation, migration, dashboarding, alerting, telemetry integration, and operational adoption using Dynatrace and related observability technologies.
This is a delivery-focused consulting engagement. You will lead the design, configuration, optimization, and operationalization of Dynatrace-based observability solutions across client environments, while working hands-on with dashboards, alerting, instrumentation, telemetry ingestion, automation, and platform integrations. You will partner with Client’s Observability team and client stakeholders to ensure solutions are scalable, supportable, and aligned to operational and business outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
As a Senior Dynatrace Observability Consultant contractor, you will:
  • Lead Dynatrace implementation by configuring, optimizing, and operationalizing Dynatrace across enterprise client environments.
  • Design observability experiences by building dashboards, alerting patterns, service-level views, and operational reporting for infrastructure, application, platform, SRE, leadership, and business-service use cases.
  • Enable telemetry collection and integrations across infrastructure, applications, cloud platforms, Kubernetes environments, logs, user experience monitoring, synthetics, APIs, and enterprise telemetry sources.
  • Support telemetry pipeline design using Dynatrace platform capabilities, OpenTelemetry-aligned collection patterns, and adjacent observability components.
  • Assess and modernize client monitoring environments through dashboard rationalization, alert tuning, instrumentation improvements, telemetry onboarding, and migration from legacy monitoring platforms.
  • Advise clients on telemetry governance, data quality, retention, cardinality, access, and cost optimization to improve signal value while reducing operational and platform waste.
  • Support integration patterns across Dynatrace, ITSM, incident management, collaboration, workflow, and automation platforms.

Required Qualifications
  • 8+ years of experience in observability, monitoring, SRE, DevOps, platform engineering, cloud operations, infrastructure engineering, or application operations roles.
  • 4+ years of hands-on experience implementing, administering, optimizing, and supporting Dynatrace in production environments.
  • Demonstrated experience building Dynatrace dashboards, configuring monitoring scopes and data collection, developing operational visualizations, and supporting technical and executive reporting needs.
  • Strong working knowledge of Dynatrace capabilities including infrastructure monitoring, APM, distributed tracing, log monitoring, real user monitoring, synthetic monitoring, alerting, root cause analysis, and service flow visibility.
  • Experience with OpenTelemetry and familiarity with telemetry pipeline design, instrumentation patterns, ingestion models, and collection architecture.
  • Experience defining service health models, SLIs, SLOs, alerting strategies, or reliability measurement approaches that connect technical telemetry to operational outcomes.
  • Strong understanding of observability concepts across metrics, logs, traces, alerting, service health, reliability, incident response, telemetry collection, query performance, and troubleshooting.
  • Strong familiarity with monitoring across AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, Kubernetes, OpenShift, Linux, Windows, databases, network services, containerized environments, and distributed systems.
  • Strong scripting, automation, or infrastructure-as-code skills using one or more of Python, Bash, PowerShell, Terraform, Helm, YAML, or CI/CD pipelines.
  • Proven ability to own technical workstreams in client-facing delivery environments with limited oversight.
  • Excellent consulting skills, including structured problem-solving, stakeholder management, technical documentation, and clear communication with client engineering and operations teams.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience delivering Dynatrace, OpenTelemetry, or broader observability engagements for enterprise clients in consulting or professional services environments.
  • Experience with large-scale, multi-team, hybrid cloud, multi-cloud, Kubernetes, microservices, or regulated enterprise environments.
  • Experience with Dynatrace SaaS, Dynatrace Managed, and enterprise-scale Dynatrace operating models.
  • Experience supporting observability modernization, telemetry strategy, telemetry routing, tool rationalization, or migration from legacy monitoring platforms such as Datadog, Splunk, AppDynamics, New Relic, Sumo Logic, Elastic, Zabbix, Nagios, SolarWinds, or Grafana-based stacks.
  • Experience designing standards for dashboards, alerting, naming, tagging, service ownership, RBAC, management zones, SLIs/SLOs, runbooks, and operating model adoption.
  • Experience operationalizing error budgets, burn-rate alerting, production readiness reviews, or reliability governance practices.
  • Experience with telemetry cost optimization, sampling strategies, retention policies, tagging standards, cardinality management, or observability governance.
What Success Looks Like
  • Dynatrace solutions are implemented cleanly, configured correctly, and adopted successfully within client environments.
  • Dashboards, alerts, service views, and reporting structures improve visibility, context, and operational decision-making.
  • Alerting becomes more actionable through better routing, noise reduction, escalation design, and workflow alignment.
  • Telemetry onboarding and instrumentation quality improve across applications, infrastructure, cloud, and platform domains.
  • Client teams leave with stronger observability standards, clearer operating practices, and sustainable ownership of the implemented solution.
  • Delivery outputs are technically sound, well-documented, and aligned to the engagement scope, timeline, and expected outcomes.
