** This is a remote-based opportunity from anywhere in Canada **

THE POSITION

Due to current demand and anticipated organizational growth, AMLB has identified a need to conduct a search for a Manager, Cloud Finance Services. This role is crafted not only as a pillar of leadership but as a channel through which AMLB aims to redefine financial management and accounting services for a diverse portfolio of growth-oriented clients.

Working closely with the Co-Founders (Ally Ladha & Moez Bawania) and reporting to the Director, Cloud Finance Services, this person will lead, coach, and inspire a team of finance professionals while fostering a collaborative, inclusive, and fun culture. The Manager will ensure the provision of high-quality and timely cloud finance services to clients while leveraging technology, automation, and artificial intelligence (AI) to improve efficiency, scalability, and service quality.

The ideal candidate will be an entrepreneurial accounting leader with experience managing and mentoring teams and a proven record of supporting organizations through growth and change. The candidate must be collaborative, strategic, and empathetic while possessing a high degree of integrity, professionalism, and self-motivation. In addition, the ideal candidate will be relationship-focused, technology-forward, results-oriented, and data-driven with exceptional problem-solving and communication skills.

AMLB is a fast-growing and innovative organization with strong values, progressive leadership, and a collaborative, purpose-driven culture. This is a unique opportunity to join an organization on a significant growth trajectory and directly contribute to the evolution of the Cloud Finance Services function.

THE PRIORITIES

People Leadership

You will build, develop, and retain a high-performing team of Cloud Accountants and Bookkeeping Specialists. You will create accountability, consistency, and a culture of continuous improvement while coaching team members on both technical accounting and client service skills. As a member of the leadership team, you will help shape the culture, standards, and future growth of the organization.

Client Management

You will oversee a portfolio of growth-oriented clients across a wide range of industries, ensuring a consistently high-quality client experience. You will provide technical leadership to the team on accounting, reporting, audit, and year-end matters while proactively identifying risks, opportunities, and advisory needs. You will work closely with AMLB’s Tax team, Payroll team, and external auditors as required to support client success.

Process Improvement

You will continuously improve systems, workflows, and service delivery processes to increase efficiency, quality, and scalability. Working closely with AMLB’s Technology & Operations team, you will leverage cloud technology, automation, and AI to improve both the client and team member experience while supporting the development of a scalable operating model.

Business Operations & Strategic Leadership

You will play a key role in shaping the future of the Cloud Finance Services function. This includes contributing to capacity planning, hiring decisions, resource allocation, service delivery improvements, and strategic initiatives that support AMLB’s continued growth. You will help build the systems, processes, and leadership structure required to scale the business while maintaining an exceptional client experience.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage a remote team of finance professionals (up to 7 Cloud Accountants and Bookkeeping Specialists), including recruitment, onboarding, coaching, mentoring, and performance management.
  • Ensure successful client service delivery for a growing portfolio of clients across Canada.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to Cloud Accountants and Bookkeeping Specialists on accounting, reporting, audit, and year-end matters, escalating to internal specialists when required.
  • Review year-end trial balances, supporting working papers, and financial statements before hand-off to AMLB’s Tax team.
  • Support clients and team members through liaising with external auditors and helping resolve accounting and reporting questions.
  • Monitor and elevate the quality and timeliness of client communication while coaching team members on service excellence.
  • Proactively identify service risks, scope changes, and advisory opportunities.
  • Stay abreast of regulatory and technical accounting changes and update client service standards and processes as required.
  • Resolve payroll-related issues by liaising with AMLB’s Payroll Lead and clients as needed.
  • Support and participate in client advisory work, including leading ad hoc financial projects and providing practical business recommendations.
  • Partner with AMLB’s Technology & Operations team to identify, recommend, and implement process improvements.
  • Champion AI adoption within the team and support continuous learning around emerging technologies.
  • Deliver technical and non-technical training that improves consistency, quality, and team performance.

IDEAL CANDIDATE PROFILE

The ideal candidate is an experienced accounting leader with a strong track record managing people, processes, clients, and technical accounting matters within a multi-client environment. They are entrepreneurial, strategic, and energized by leading high-performing teams while helping build scalable systems and delivering an exceptional client experience.

Experience & Background

At least 5 years of experience in a multi-client accounting environment. Experience within a cloud accounting business, virtual CFO practice, public practice, or a similar client-service environment is preferred. Direct experience managing accounting professionals who support multiple clients simultaneously is essential, with comfort leading diverse portfolios of early-stage, growth-oriented, and established organizations across various sectors. Exposure to advisory work is considered an asset.

Leadership & Team Management

Proven ability to lead and mentor remote teams of accounting professionals, including hiring, onboarding, performance coaching, and delivering technical and soft-skills training. A collaborative and inclusive leadership style is essential, along with the ability to scale through people rather than individual contribution.

Client-Facing Skills

Demonstrated ability to manage multiple client relationships concurrently while maintaining a high standard of service. Strong communication, relationship-building, and problem-solving skills are essential. Able to proactively identify client concerns, service risks, and scope changes while maintaining strong client relationships. Comfortable representing the business at a senior level in client interactions and providing practical recommendations that enhance the client experience.

Technical Proficiency

Strong accounting and financial reporting foundation with experience supporting year-end processes, financial statement review, audit coordination, and technical accounting matters. Ability to review financial information at a high level, identify risks or unusual items, and provide guidance to team members. Comfortable supporting Cloud Accountants through accounting and reporting challenges and understanding when specialist support is required.

Experience supporting month-end and quarter-end reporting processes, working with external auditors, and exposure to corporate tax matters are considered strong assets. Familiarity with cloud-based accounting tools and platforms (e.g., QuickBooks Online, Xero, Dext, Plooto, Karbon, Reach Reporting, Wagepoint) is preferred but not required.

AI and Innovation Orientation

Curious and future-forward, with a desire to explore how AI, automation, and emerging technologies can enhance service delivery, internal workflows, and client outcomes. Eager to engage in continuous learning and support AMLB’s commitment to embedding AI thoughtfully into operations while driving efficiency, scalability, and service quality.

Communication & Judgement

Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to simplify complex financial and operational concepts. Demonstrates strong judgment, professionalism, and executive presence, with the ability to communicate clearly and confidently with clients, team members, and leadership.

Education & Credentials

A recognized accounting designation (CPA preferred) or equivalent experience. A bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field is required.

Work Environment Fit

Thrives in a remote-first, fast-paced, entrepreneurial setting. Self-motivated, disciplined, and resilient while remaining collaborative and team-oriented. Demonstrates ownership, accountability, and a proactive approach to identifying opportunities, solving problems, and driving continuous improvement. Comfortable operating autonomously while contributing to a growing leadership team and helping build a scalable Cloud Finance Services function.
