Job description

Position: Instructional Designer
Location: 100% Remote
Pay Rate: $65/hr

Duration: Through December 31, 2026

In this role, you'll partner with Substation and Transmission Line Engineering teams to design and develop technical training programs, creating high-quality instructor-led and eLearning content that supports engineering processes and systems.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Partner with Engineering subject matter experts to design technical training solutions.
  • Define learning objectives, course structure, instructional content, and assessments.
  • Conduct task analyses to identify training requirements and develop effective learning strategies.
  • Design and develop instructor-led training (ILT) and eLearning course materials.
  • Create facilitator guides, student guides, presentations, activities, scenarios, and assessments.
  • Develop instructional graphics and engaging learning interactions.
  • Lead and participate in SME meetings, including task analysis, alpha, beta, and content validation sessions.
  • Incorporate stakeholder feedback and revise training materials as needed.
  • Manage multiple development projects while meeting deadlines.
  • Communicate project status, risks, and issues proactively with project teams.


Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience developing instructor-led training (ILT) and eLearning courseware.
  • Strong instructional design experience with technical content (not primarily onboarding or soft skills training).
  • Deep understanding of adult learning principles and instructional design methodologies.
  • Strong experience conducting task analyses.
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft PowerPoint and Word.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and adapt quickly to changing priorities and feedback.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills with subject matter experts.
  • Experience developing training within the utility industry is a plus.
  • Technical writing experience is preferred.
  • Experience with QuestionMark and Author-it is a plus.
