Job description

A growing and client-focused Florida law firm is seeking an experienced Associate Attorney to join its Family Law practice. This position is ideal for an attorney who is passionate about advocating for clients during some of the most important moments of their lives and is looking to build a long-term career in a collaborative, team-oriented environment.


The ideal candidate will have experience handling a broad range of family law matters, possess strong litigation skills, and be comfortable managing cases from inception through final resolution. The firm emphasizes personalized client service, strategic advocacy, and achieving practical solutions tailored to each client's needs.


Responsibilities

  • Manage a caseload involving dissolution of marriage, paternity, child custody and timesharing, child support, alimony, equitable distribution, domestic violence injunctions, modifications, and enforcement actions.
  • Draft pleadings, motions, memoranda, marital settlement agreements, parenting plans, and other legal documents.
  • Conduct legal research and prepare case strategy for hearings, mediations, and trial.
  • Handle all aspects of discovery, including interrogatories, requests for production, depositions, subpoenas, and witness preparation.
  • Represent clients during mediations, hearings, case management conferences, and trials.
  • Maintain consistent communication with clients, providing guidance and regular case updates.
  • Negotiate favorable settlements while effectively litigating contested matters when necessary.
  • Collaborate with attorneys and support staff to develop litigation strategy and ensure exceptional client service.
  • Maintain accurate case files and ensure compliance with court deadlines and procedural requirements.


Qualifications

  • Active member in good standing with The Florida Bar.
  • 3+ years of family law litigation experience preferred.
  • Strong courtroom advocacy, negotiation, and motion practice skills.
  • Experience managing cases independently from intake through final disposition.
  • Excellent legal research, writing, and analytical abilities.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Outstanding interpersonal and client communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team environment.

  • Family law litigation.
  • High-conflict custody and parenting matters.
  • Financial discovery and equitable distribution.
  • Mediation and settlement negotiations.
  • Trial preparation and courtroom advocacy.
  • Working with forensic accountants, custody evaluators, and other expert witnesses.
