Job Description

Title: Associate Director, Major Gifts and Philanthropic Partnerships
Location: Washington, D.C. or remote
Reports To: Director, Development
Department: Business Development and Fundraising
Classification: Full-time, exempt

EGPAF’s Development department leads the growth of private fundraising to advance the organization’s mission to end AIDS and children and ensure that every child has a full and healthy life. This dynamic team secures funding from private philanthropists through annual campaigns, major gifts, funding partnerships, digital engagement, events, and more. The Associate Director plays a critical role in developing, executing, and measuring progress against an aggressive growth strategy – articulated in a new $25M fundraising campaign – for the organization.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Prospect, cultivate, and secure funding from private philanthropists with a focus on five-to-seven figure gifts.
  • Prospect, cultivate, and steward individual major donors (pipeline development, personalized cultivation, communications, solicitations, and reporting). Develop individualized donor cultivation plans based on research and internal discussions.
  • Cultivate, manage, and establish new innovative partnerships with corporate and foundation partners related to engagement and giving. Develop and implement cause-marketing partnerships as opportunities arise. 
  • Oversee EGPAF’s donor recognition program and associated delivery of annual engagement opportunities.
  • Reinvigorate and manage a comprehensive planned giving program. This includes:
    • All non-traditional giving vehicles, including but not limited to: donor advised funds, life insurance policies, bequests, charitable remainder trusts, retirement plan beneficiary designations, and life insurance beneficiary designations.
    • Building the organizations “Legacy Society” and accompanied donor benefits.
    • Managing external vendor(s) relationships in support of the planned giving program.
  • Establish and maintain EGPAF’s fundraising and friend-raising event strategy.
  • Maintain accurate records in all EGPAF systems, including the CRM of record (Salesforce) and internal knowledge management portals. Partner with Development team on record managment and donor data integrity policies and procedures.
  • Work cross-functionally, particularly with new business, marketing, communication, and program colleagues to ensure alignment and maximization of all opportunities.
  • Other activities as defined by the Director, Development and VP, Business Development and Fundraising.
Qualifications
  • 10+ years of relevant progressive development experience with the ability to show results from past private giving programs at the five-seven figure gift level.
  • 2-4+ years of supervisory experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Significant relationship building, partnership management, and revenue responsibility experience; Familiarity with all facets of development and a demonstrable understanding of how to manage a portfolio of prospects.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; Strong attention to detail and nuance in communications; Strong interpersonal skills, good judgment, and ability to communicate effectively with a diverse range of individuals. 
  • Team player, self-motivated, can lead multiple / concurrent projects independently from concept to completion. 
  • Creative thinker with the ability to proactively develop new ideas and problem-solve, and a process / continuous improvement mindset.
  • Ability to travel as needed to donor meetings and events domestically.
  • Highest levels of integrity and adherence to code of ethics, including fundraising.

Additional Information

Salary Range

The expected salary range for this position is 100,318.00 - 135,413.00 annually. Actual base salary compensation will be determined by factors such as qualifications, experience and training, education and certifications, internal equity, external market data, and budget.
