Job description

We're hiring a Product Manager to help build Hudl's 'Director Operating System' - the platform Club Directors, High School Athletic Directors and League Operators rely on to run youth and scholastic sports.  Historically, Hudl has built category-defining products for teams, coaches, and athletes across video, performance analysis, recruiting, and video capture. As we expand into registration, payments, ticketing, streaming, scheduling, and communications, the center of gravity shifts to Directors - the people operating sports organizations at scale.

These leaders are responsible for far more than a single team. They manage schedules, registration, payments, facilities, communications, game-day operations, compliance, and fan experience across entire organizations. When something breaks, they are the escalation point. When game day goes sideways, it is their credibility on the line.  This Product Manager will help us build the operational foundation that reduces chaos, increases confidence, and gives Directors their time back so they can focus on athletes, coaches, and long-term growth instead of constant firefighting.

As a Product Manager, you'll:

  • Lead product squads. You'll act as the product owner for a cross-functional squad, keeping the backlog transparent and prioritized while collaborating with design and engineering to deliver on-strategy outcomes.
  • Build Director Operations products. You'll help create the operational tools that power scheduling, facilities, registration, payments, communications, and game-day readiness for high school Athletic Directors, Club Directors, and League Administrators.
  • Drive discovery and delivery. You'll lead discovery for projects to reduce risks around value and usability, and then work with a release team to ensure those solutions successfully hit the market with measurable impact.
  • Shape product strategy. You'll evaluate opportunities based on customer value, business viability, and long-term platform strategy while helping define the roadmap for your team.
  • Design AI-powered workflows. You'll use AI tools and product thinking to automate manual work, reduce operational friction, and help customers operate by exception instead of constant intervention.
  • Connect the business.  You'll build strong context across customer success, sales, partnerships, legal, finance, and support to ensure solutions work for the broader business and ecosystem.
Location
  • Our priority is to hire someone for this role who lives near our office in Lincoln, Nebraska.
  • We're also open to remote candidates who live in the following states in central or east coast time: AL, FL, GA, IL, IN, IA, KS, KY, LA, MA, MI, MN, MO, NH, NC, OH, OK, PA, SC, SD, TN, TX, VA, and WI.
Must-Haves
  • Product management experience. You have 2-4+ years of experience as a Product Manager building and shipping customer-facing software products.
  • Sports industry experience. You have meaningful experience playing, coaching, or working in sports and deeply understand the operational realities of clubs, schools, leagues, or athletic organizations.
  • AI workflow experience. You have experience using AI tools and building AI-powered workflows into products to improve customer outcomes and reduce operational burden.
  • A natural leader. You can influence and inspire teammates and stakeholders without needing formal authority.
  • User-focused. You're a "learn-it-all" who seeks out diverse perspectives and has a deep understanding of how customers engage with products.
  • Collaborative. You value outcomes over hours and understand that the best solutions come from working closely with your squad and stakeholders.
  • Strategic thinker. You can connect day-to-day product decisions to larger company strategy and long-term market opportunities.
Nice-to-Haves
  • Operations product experience. You've built products related to scheduling, registration, payments, communications, facilities management, ticketing, or organizational workflows.
  • SaaS expertise. You have strong experience working in SaaS environments and understand how to build products that scale across organizations and customer segments.
  • Industry expertise. You have deep knowledge of the sports technology landscape and relevant industry trends.
  • Technical comfort. You're comfortable navigating technical conversations, supporting customer escalations, and helping customers understand how to get value from the product.
  • Marketplace mindset. You understand how to build for multi-sided ecosystems involving admins, coaches, parents, athletes, fans, and governing bodies.
Our Role
  • Champion work-life harmony. We'll give you the flexibility you need in your work life (e.g., flexible vacation time, company-wide holidays and timeout (meeting-free) days, remote work options and more) so you can enjoy your personal life too.
  • Guarantee autonomy. We have an open, honest culture and we trust our people from day one. Your team will support you, but you'll own your work and have the agency to try new ideas.
  • Encourage career growth. We're lifelong learners who encourage professional development. We'll give you tons of resources and opportunities to keep growing.
  • Provide an environment to help you succeed. We've invested in our offices, designing incredible spaces with our employees in mind. But whether you're at the office or working remotely, we'll provide you the tech stack and hardware to do your best work.
  • Support your mental and physical health. We care about our employees' wellbeing. Our Employee Assistance Program, employee resource groups and fitness partner Peerfit have you covered.
  • Cover your medical insurance. We have multiple plans to pick from to ensure you'll have the coverage you (and your dependents) want, including vision, dental, fertility healthcare and family forming benefits.
  • Contribute to your 401(K). Yep, that's free money. We'll match up to 4% of your own contribution.
