We are sharing a specialised part-time consulting opportunity for experienced reporters, journalists, and news professionals with strong expertise in reporting, news analysis, source evaluation, fact interpretation, and editorial judgement across print, broadcast, and other media. This role focuses on reviewing news and journalism content across realistic editorial scenarios. Selected professionals will assess news stories, analyses, scripts, reporting decisions, and related work products for factual accuracy, reporting rigour, editorial soundness, narrative clarity, and overall journalistic quality.

Key Responsibilities

News Reporting & Journalism Evaluate news stories, reports, scripts, and other journalistic work products for accuracy and professional quality Assess whether reporting clearly distinguishes established facts, analysis, and commentary Identify factual errors, unsupported assertions, missing context, and misleading presentation Review story structure, narrative clarity, and relevance Apply professional judgement grounded in real-world journalism experience News Analysis Review analyses and commentary for factual grounding, logical consistency, and appropriate context Assess whether interpretations are supported by the information presented Identify analytical gaps, overstatements, or unsupported conclusions Evaluate whether relevant perspectives and contextual information have been appropriately incorporated Review complex news topics for clarity and accuracy Source Evaluation & Fact Interpretation Evaluate the quality and appropriate use of sources in journalistic scenarios Assess credibility, relevance, and evidentiary support Identify unsupported claims or conclusions that exceed available evidence Review how facts, statements, and source material are interpreted Evaluate whether reporting accurately represents the underlying information Editorial Judgement & Story Selection Review scenarios involving story selection, prioritisation, framing, and editorial decisions Assess whether editorial choices appropriately reflect newsworthiness and available evidence Evaluate headline, lead, structure, and emphasis decisions Identify framing or presentation choices that reduce clarity or journalistic quality Apply professional editorial judgement across different news formats Broadcast & Written News Content Evaluate content intended for print, digital, broadcast, or other communications media Review scripts and narrated news materials for accuracy, clarity, pacing, and structure Assess whether written and spoken content is appropriate for its intended format Identify awkward, misleading, or unclear presentation choices Evaluate consistency of facts and messaging across different formats Comparative Editorial Evaluation Compare alternative journalistic responses or work products Assess outputs based on reporting rigour, editorial soundness, and clarity of narration Identify meaningful differences between stronger and weaker reporting approaches Determine whether conclusions and presentation choices are professionally defensible Provide clear reasoning supporting evaluation decisions Structured Evaluation & Feedback Review journalistic work products for factual accuracy and professional quality Identify substantive reporting, sourcing, editorial, analytical, and presentation weaknesses Distinguish material journalistic issues from minor stylistic concerns Provide concise, evidence-based written feedback Apply evaluation standards consistently across assignments Ideal Profile 4+ years of relevant professional experience in journalism, reporting, news analysis, broadcast news, or a closely related field Experience as a Reporter, News Reporter, Journalist, News Anchor, Staff Writer , or similar news professional Demonstrated experience writing, narrating, or analysing news stories, reviews, or commentary Professional experience across print, broadcast, digital, or other communications media Strong editorial judgement and ability to evaluate sourcing, factual accuracy, and reporting quality Ability to assess story selection, source credibility, fact interpretation, and presentation decisions Strong written English communication skills Ability to work independently and provide precise professional feedback Engagement Details Part-time independent contractor engagement Fully remote Availability of 20+ hours per week Immediate start Initial project duration of approximately 4-6 weeks Compensation: $60-$100/hour for hourly project work The initial assignment is task-based; contributors who successfully complete and receive approval for their first task may then qualify for hourly work for the remainder of the project Work includes evaluation of news stories, analyses, scripts, source assessments, editorial decisions, and related journalistic scenarios Projects may be extended, shortened, or concluded based on project needs and performance Work must be completed without using confidential or proprietary information belonging to any employer, client, institution, source, or other third party H1-B and STEM OPT support is unavailable for this engagement About the Platform This opportunity is available through 24-MAG LLC.
