Job description

Our client is seeking an experienced Asset Accountant with strong expertise in fixed asset accounting and hands‑on involvement in PowerPlan implementation, configuration, or optimization. This role supports the full lifecycle of capital asset accounting, including reporting, analysis, and compliance, while partnering with cross‑functional teams to ensure accurate and timely asset management.

Contract Duration: 6 months, with potential extension based on performance and business needs | W2

Please Note: Candidates located in CST or EST time zones preferred

Responsibilities:

  • Analyze capital expenditures and ensure proper capitalization of assets.
  • Analyze asset trends, depreciation impacts, and capital spending forecasts.
  • Support month‑end and year‑end close activities related to asset accounting.
  • Prepare financial schedules and reporting related to capital assets and depreciation.
  • Prepare and review balance sheet reconciliations for fixed asset and capital accounts.
  • Develop and maintain PowerPlan workflows, reporting, and configuration documentation.
  • Support internal and external audits by providing documentation and responding to inquiries.
  • Participate in PowerPlan implementations, upgrades, conversions, and system enhancements.
  • Partner with project managers, operations, engineering, and finance leadership on capital project accounting.
  • Fixed asset accounting including asset additions, retirements, transfers, depreciation, and capital project tracking.

Qualifications (Must-Haves)

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • 6+ years of fixed asset or capital accounting experience.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, depreciation methods, and capitalization policies.
  • Hands‑on experience with PowerPlan implementation, configuration, upgrades, or optimization.
