What is remote asset liability management?

Remote Asset Liability Management refers to the process of overseeing and optimizing an organization's assets and liabilities from a remote location, rather than working onsite. Professionals in this field analyze financial risks, monitor cash flows, and develop strategies to ensure a balance between assets and liabilities with the goal of maximizing profitability and minimizing risk. Using digital tools and communication technologies, they are able to collaborate with teams and access financial data securely from anywhere. This role is common in banks, investment firms, and large corporations that manage significant financial portfolios remotely.

How does a remote asset liability management professional typically collaborate with other departments to manage financial risks?

As a remote Asset Liability Management (ALM) professional, you will regularly coordinate with teams such as Treasury, Risk Management, and Finance to analyze and manage the institution’s balance sheet risks. Collaboration often occurs via virtual meetings, shared digital platforms, and regular reporting cycles. Effective communication and timely data sharing are crucial to ensure strategies align with regulatory requirements and overall business goals. You may also participate in cross-functional projects, providing insights on interest rate risk, liquidity management, and capital planning.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a remote asset liability management professional, and why are they important?

To thrive in Remote Asset Liability Management, you need a strong background in finance, risk management, and quantitative analysis, often supported by a degree in finance, economics, or a related field. Familiarity with financial modeling software, ALM systems like QRM or RiskPro, and relevant certifications such as CFA or FRM is typically required. Exceptional analytical thinking, attention to detail, and effective communication skills help professionals interpret complex data and collaborate with remote teams. These skills are crucial to managing financial risks, ensuring regulatory compliance, and supporting sound decision-making for an organization’s financial stability.

Job description

We provide technology that community financial institutions use to manage risk and drive growth. Our solutions automate key processes – from anti-money laundering to fraud detection to CECL readiness to lending workflows – empowering our customers by addressing their Enterprise Risk Management needs.

The Senior Consultant – Lending & Credit is a key role within the Advisory Services team reporting to the Director of Lending and Credit Advisory services, focused on providing expert guidance to financial institutions. This position involves leading advisory engagements, delivering strategic recommendations, and serving as a subject matter expert in banking and financial services. As part of a dynamic and growing team, this role offers opportunities to work with a variety of clients, providing best practices and formal deliverables across multiple areas of lending and credit risk.

We are seeking highly motivated candidates with deep expertise in credit and lending, strong analytical skills, and a strategic mindset. The ideal candidate will have a well-rounded understanding of financial institution operations, experience working in leadership roles within banking, and the ability to translate complex concepts into actionable recommendations for clients.

Applicants may choose to work remotely or be hybrid-based at our office in Raleigh (NC) or Austin (TX).

What You'll Do:

  • Lead advisory engagements and serve as a subject matter expert in lending, credit risk, and financial strategy.
  • Provide recommendations and develop deliverables on best practices for credit and lending policies and procedures.
  • Consult clients in developing small business lending decision models.
  • Analyze and optimize loan origination workflow efficiencies, ensuring alignment with industry best practices from application to loan closing.
  • Guide financial institutions in establishing and refining credit risk frameworks, including risk rating systems and risk scorecards.
  • Stay current on credit-related compliance requirements and demonstrate a willingness to research and integrate new regulations into advisory offerings.
  • Support financial institutions in enterprise strategic planning initiatives.
  • Deliver formal reports and presentations to client leadership teams, ensuring actionable insights and high-quality recommendations.
  • Provide insights and thought leadership on topics that define the current banking landscape.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Occasional travel required for team events to support engagement, relationship-building, and key decision-making.

What You'll Need:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
  • Certifications, such as CPA, banking/finance certifications, and/or graduate school of banking completion preferred.
  • Proven experience in developing, implementing, and refining credit policies to align with regulatory requirements and institutional risk management strategies.
  • Prior experience in enterprise strategic planning.
  • A broad range of experience, preferably in community banking, with exposure to multiple functional areas.
  • Executive committee experience may substitute for direct lending experience.
  • Familiarity with small business lending decision modeling, loan pricing, strategic planning, and asset-liability management components is a plus.
  • Ability to quickly adapt to new technologies and industry advancements.
  • Proactive approach to leveraging innovative tools and solutions to enhance client outcomes.

What You’ll Get:

  • Market competitive total rewards package
  • To be part of the Heart & SOUL of a winning company with an inspiring mission
  • The opportunity to Make Big Things Happen
  • Competitive salary along with full health benefits with an HSA option
  • Flexible PTO and bank holidays
  • 401(k) plan and company match
