Remote Assembly Language Programmer information

What is a remote assembly language programmer?

A Remote Assembly Language Programmer is a software developer who specializes in writing and maintaining code in assembly language while working from a remote location. Assembly language is a low-level programming language that is closely tied to a computer's hardware architecture, making it ideal for tasks that require high speed or direct hardware manipulation. These programmers typically work on embedded systems, device drivers, performance-critical applications, or legacy system maintenance. Being remote allows them to collaborate with teams worldwide using communication and version control tools. Strong knowledge of computer architecture and debugging tools is essential for this role.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a remote assembly language programmer?

To excel as a Remote Assembly Language Programmer, you need deep expertise in low-level programming, computer architecture, and debugging, often backed by a degree in computer science or related field. Familiarity with development tools like assemblers, debuggers, emulators, and version control systems such as Git is essential. Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and self-motivation are crucial soft skills for working independently and troubleshooting complex code remotely. These abilities ensure reliable, efficient code development and successful collaboration in distributed technical teams.

How does collaboration typically work for remote assembly language programmers working with distributed teams?

As a remote Assembly Language Programmer, you will often collaborate with development teams, hardware engineers, and QA specialists through virtual meetings, code repositories, and project management tools. Clear communication is crucial, as you may need to clarify low-level technical requirements, review code, and troubleshoot issues together despite different time zones. Many teams use version control systems and documentation platforms to streamline code sharing and feedback. This setup allows for both independent focus and regular check-ins, ensuring alignment and productivity even when team members are geographically dispersed.

What is the difference between Remote Assembly Language Programmer vs Embedded Systems Developer?

Summary:

We are seeking a highly capable Senior Software Engineer to deliver high-quality, scalable software solutions across complex systems. You'll work closely with engineers, product managers, and designers to build impactful features that serve our customers reliably at scale.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and contribute to multiple concurrent engineering efforts
  • Work both independently and collaboratively to drive technical solutions and deliver high-quality outcomes
  • Design and build modern, responsive front-end applications using frameworks such as React, ensuring exceptional user experience and performance across devices
    • Take ownership of features from planning through delivery by proactively estimating scope, lead implementation with minimal guidance, and provide thoughtful, high-quality code reviews that elevate the team's output
    • Design performant, scalable, and reliable software, considering both functional and non-functional aspects
    • Understand data flow, established patterns, and functional needs to inform development
    • Create a plan for your work by gathering information from your squad and the broader R&D organization
  • Develop software that meets our internal standards of quality
    • Make daily code contributions in small, manageable chunks, with continuous integration in mind
    • Fix major issues, defects and vulnerabilities in existing codebases
    • Create and update unit tests to ensure proper coverage of your contributions to the code base and maintain the coverage standard
    • Proactively raise the bar for engineering quality by defining and evolving coding standards, workflow processes, performance benchmarks, and observability practices
    • Leverage observability best practices to define monitors and alerts that ensure real-time insight into the operational health of production systems
  • Diagnose and fix performance and optimization problems in legacy code
  • Partner with engineers and R&D stakeholders across teams to ensure effective collaboration and deliver results that move the business forward
  • Teach and provide guidance to others in your area of expertise
  • Participate in resolving, and sometimes lead the resolution of, after-hours Production incidents
  • Demonstrate your project work and product contributions

Qualifications:

  • 4+ years of professional software development experience
  • Proficient in building front-end applications with React or similar modern JavaScript frameworks
  • Proven ability to collaborate in the design, integration, and delivery of AI-powered features in a SaaS product
  • Hands-on experience with large language models (LLMs), generative AI APIs, and intelligent automation to deliver differentiated customer value
  • Solid foundation in cloud-native software architecture and development
  • Familiarity with technology stacks and architectures similar to Greenlight Guru's
  • Fluency with REST, RPC, and GraphQL APIs
  • Skilled in writing unit and integration test suites
  • Comfortable working within continuous integration pipelines and automation workflows
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a strong emphasis on active listening
  • Highly collaborative with exceptional interpersonal skills
  • Data-driven mindset with a track record of using metrics to guide technical decisions and evolve systems over time
  • Sharp problem-solving and troubleshooting instincts
  • Genuine curiosity about how your code performs and creates impact in the real world

Benefits you'll enjoy:

  • Supportive teammates and co-workers who care deeply about our mission
  • Flexible Paid Time Off policy and working hours
  • Remote-first culture
  • Home Office stipend upon hire
  • Multiple Health insurance options (vision, medical, dental)
  • 401k (with company match)
  • Equity Program Eligibility (based on role and/or tenure)
  • Three months of paid maternity leave
  • Disability insurance
