Sales Application Engineer - Mid-Atlantic Territory

(NJ, NY, NYC, CT, PA, MD, DC, VA)

SISSCO Material Handling, a leader in Overhead Crane and Hoist Manufacturing, Sales and Service is looking to expand our Sales Application Engineering Team with either of the following two positions.

About the Role

Remote Position - This position is open exclusively to remote candidates located in the Mid-Atlantic Area who posses a minimum of five (5) years of Sales Application Engineering experience directly related to Overhead Cranes and Hoists. Qualified candidates will have a proven track record of developing engineered solutions, preparing technical proposals, and supporting customers within the material handling industry. Remote position may be required to travel to customer locations when needed.

On-Site Position - This position is open to candidates local to our Hillsborough, NJ location with experience in Overhead Cranes and Hoists or related industries such as industrial machinery, structural systems, material handling equipment, or engineered mechanical systems. Candidates should possess 3+ years of experience in Sales Application Engineering, estimating, or technical proposal development, or demonstrate equivalent relevant experience

Both positions are an integral member of our engineering and sales team and will work collaboratively to deliver accurate, timely, and competitive proposals that support SISSCO’s commitment to quality, customer satisfaction, and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform all functions related to generating equipment quotations, including application design, shop fabrication requirements, and field installation labor assessments
  • Manage assigned Requests for Quotation (RFQs) and develop structured plans for completing quotations
  • Prepare comprehensive proposals through application engineering, vendor coordination, cost analysis, and drafting (light 2D drafting as needed)
  • Produce accurate technical quotations and professional customer-facing proposal packages
  • Collaborate with other Engineered Estimators and internal teams in a supportive, team-oriented environment
  • Manage the full quotation lifecycle from initial customer inquiry through closing the sale
  • Work closely with the Project Management team to ensure a smooth and successful project handoff and execution

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical, Structural, or Electrical Engineering (or equivalent professional engineering experience)
  • Professional experience in Engineering or Application Engineering may substitute for formal education
  • Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong time-management and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple quotations simultaneously
  • Knowledge of product pricing, cost accounting, and general sales processes
  • Strong mechanical and structural aptitude
  • Experience with AutoCAD or SolidWorks
  • Prior experience in Material Handling Equipment, industrial equipment, or electric motor/control systems is highly desirable
