Job description

Position Summary

Under the direction of the Senior Director of Specialty Services, the Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) Contract Evaluator efficiently and accurately provides evidence-based speech and language evaluations. This role focuses strictly on diagnostic clinical evaluations to identify speech, language, and communication challenges, helping to build a comprehensive picture of a child's needs. Through collaboration with other specialty providers, this position guides the development of individualized care recommendations for Blackbird patients. Please note: This is an evaluation-only role and does not include ongoing treatment or therapy sessions.

As part of a fast-growing, innovative startup, you'll have the opportunity to contribute to the development of cutting-edge, interdisciplinary care models and help shape the future of behavioral and developmental healthcare.

Enjoy the flexibility of a remote environment by delivering telehealth assessments.

What makes you, you:

  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a collaborative, interdisciplinary environment.

  • Proficient in navigating electronic medical record (EMR) systems and related technology.

  • Commitment to evidence-based practice and continued professional development.

  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality according to HIPAA regulations.

  • Flexibility and initiative to adapt in a dynamic, innovative startup work environment.

  • Receptive to clinical feedback and committed to professional growth.

How you'll make an impact:
  • Complete a minimum of 6 comprehensive speech and language evaluations per week (90-minute direct clinical service sessions).

  • Complete all necessary clinical documentation (30 minute documentation time per evaluation), evaluation reports, and care recommendations accurately and in a timely manner. All documentation time is considered clinical time and is fully compensated at the standard hourly rate.

  • Focus exclusively on high-quality diagnostic testing; make appropriate recommendations and referrals for therapy goals and services based on evaluation results (no ongoing treatment/tx caseload management required).

  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of behavioral health clinicians and Certified Registered Nurse Practitioners (CRNPs) to provide comprehensive, whole-child care.

  • Participate in weekly team meetings (approximately 60 minutes per week) to provide input on clinical and administrative insights.

  • Maintain a clinical schedule focused on weekday evaluations after 3:00 PM EST and/or weekend evaluations.

The basics you'll need:

  • Education: Master's degree (or higher) in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited university.

  • Licensure: Valid state license in Pennsylvania in Speech-Language Pathology.

  • Certification: Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA).

  • Experience: At least two (2) years of experience providing speech and language services in a pediatric or multidisciplinary setting; experience with telehealth/virtual evaluations is preferred.
