Remote Animation Script Writing information

How do remote animation script writers typically collaborate with animation teams during the production process?

Remote animation script writers usually work closely with directors, storyboard artists, and producers through virtual meetings, cloud-based script editing tools, and messaging platforms. Effective communication is essential to ensure the script aligns with the project's visual style and pacing. Writers often participate in feedback sessions, making revisions based on team input and adapting to changes in storyboards or animation direction. Building strong, proactive relationships with creative team members helps maintain a smooth workflow despite the physical distance.

Remote Animation Script Writing involves creating dialogue and story structure for animations, focusing on narrative flow. Both roles often collaborate but differ in their focus: one on writing, the other on visual planning. Understanding these differences helps employers and freelancers identify the right role for their project needs.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Remote Animation Script Writer, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Remote Animation Script Writer, you need strong storytelling abilities, a solid grasp of script formatting, and experience in animation writing, often supported by a degree in creative writing, film, or a related field. Familiarity with industry-standard screenwriting software like Final Draft or Celtx is typically required. Creativity, self-motivation, and effective remote communication skills help writers collaborate with animation teams and adapt to feedback. These skills ensure scripts are engaging, production-ready, and align with the creative vision, which is crucial for successful animated projects.

What is remote animation script writing?

Remote animation script writing involves creating scripts for animated productions, such as TV shows, movies, or web series, while working from a location outside of a traditional studio environment. Writers collaborate with directors, animators, and producers through digital communication tools to develop storylines, dialogue, and scene directions tailored for animation. This role requires strong storytelling skills, an understanding of animation pacing, and the ability to adapt scripts for visual storytelling. Working remotely offers flexibility but also demands self-discipline and effective communication to meet project deadlines.

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Team Lead Frontend Game Development (Pixi.js) based in Netherlands.

As a Team Lead Frontend Game Development, you will take ownership of a high-performing frontend engineering team responsible for building engaging, high-quality game experiences. You will combine hands-on technical expertise with strong leadership skills to guide developers, define technical direction, and ensure the successful delivery of complex game features. This role involves working on interactive game mechanics, animations, and performance-heavy frontend systems using Pixi.js, while also collaborating closely with game designers, backend engineers, and technical artists. You will play a key role in shaping architecture, improving development standards, and ensuring scalable and maintainable solutions. Operating in a fast-paced game development environment, you will influence both product quality and team growth while driving innovation in iGaming experiences.

Accountabilities
  • Lead and manage a frontend game development team, including task allocation, workload planning, and delivery oversight.
  • Mentor and support developers through regular 1:1s, feedback sessions, and individual growth planning.
  • Participate in hiring processes, conduct technical interviews, and contribute to building a strong engineering culture.
  • Define technical strategy, frontend architecture, coding standards, and best development practices.
  • Conduct code reviews and ensure high-quality, maintainable, and scalable code across the team.
  • Break down technical requirements, estimate efforts, and contribute to sprint planning and delivery management.
  • Develop and maintain game logic using Pixi.js, including spins, bonus rounds, animations, and UI/UX interactions.
  • Implement visual effects, transitions, and interactive frontend elements for game experiences.
  • Design and manage state machines, event systems, and configuration-driven architectures.
  • Optimize rendering performance, including sprite management, asset loading, and memory usage.
  • Reduce draw calls and improve overall game performance through profiling and optimization techniques.
  • Integrate APIs for game features such as betting systems, RNG, bonuses, and transactions.
  • Collaborate with backend teams to define API contracts and ensure smooth integration with game services.
  • Write and maintain unit and integration tests to ensure code reliability and quality.
  • Troubleshoot production issues and support post-release bug fixing and improvements.
  • Work closely with game designers, technical artists, animators, and mathematicians to deliver cohesive game experiences.
Requirements
  • 4+ years of experience in JavaScript/TypeScript frontend development.
  • Proven experience leading or managing a development team of at least 4 engineers.
  • Strong experience in iGaming or game development, including understanding of mechanics such as RNG, RTP, and bonus systems.
  • Deep expertise in PixiJS, including rendering pipelines, sprites, containers, textures, and performance optimization.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to mentor and guide engineers effectively.
  • Experience in planning, estimating, and managing technical risks in complex projects.
  • Proven ability to optimize graphics, animations, and asset loading in performance-sensitive applications.
  • Experience integrating REST and WebSocket APIs.
  • Solid understanding of game loops, event-driven architecture, and state management patterns.
  • Proficiency with Git workflows, branching strategies, and code review processes.
  • Basic knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and build tools such as Webpack or Vite.
  • Ability to write clean, testable, and maintainable code.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work in fast-paced, production-driven environments.
  • Nice to have:
    • Experience with game frameworks such as Phaser, CreateJS, or GSAP.
    • Familiarity with WebGL, Canvas, or low-level rendering concepts.
    • Experience with animation tools such as Spine or DragonBones.
    • Knowledge of slot mathematics (volatility, hit frequency).
    • Experience with Agile/Scrum in game development environments.
    • Experience building adaptive UI for mobile and desktop platforms.
Benefits
  • Fully remote work with the flexibility to work from anywhere in Europe.
  • Official employment in Ukraine or Poland with full administrative support.
  • 20 paid vacation days, public holidays, and sick leave for a healthy work-life balance.
  • Comprehensive health insurance with access to premium medical services.
  • Psychological support coverage through dedicated wellness platforms.
  • Monthly flexible benefits allowance for hobbies, sports, wellness, and personal interests.
  • Dedicated learning budget for courses, workshops, certifications, and professional growth.
  • Corporate English training and access to online learning resources.
  • Participation in team events, workshops, and company gatherings.
  • Strong culture of openness, ownership, and collaboration with minimal bureaucracy.
  • Opportunity to work on cutting-edge game development projects in the iGaming industry.
  • Environment that encourages innovation, autonomy, and continuous technical improvement.
