Job description

Allara is a comprehensive womenโ€™s health provider that specializes in expert, longitudinal care that supports women through every life stage. Trusted by over 60,000 women nationwide, Allara makes expert healthcare accessible by connecting patients with multidisciplinary care teams that have a deep understanding of hormonal, metabolic, and reproductive care. Allara provides ongoing support for hormonal conditions like PCOS, chronic conditions like insulin resistance, and life stages like perimenopause, helping patients see improved health outcomes. As one of the fastest-growing womenโ€™s health platforms in the U.S., Allara is bridging long-overlooked gaps in healthcare for women.

The Opportunity

Allara is hiring a Mobile Engineer to build the native iOS and Android experiences that connect 60,000+ patients to expert, longitudinal care for hormonal, metabolic, and reproductive health. You'll own significant pieces of our mobile platform end-to-end, working across a shared architecture that spans both native codebases. This is a high-ownership role where you'll partner closely with product, design, and backend engineers to ship features that directly shape the patient experience and care journey.

Location: Hybrid (NYC). We value in-person collaboration and aim for at least three days per week in our NYC office, with flexibility as needed.

Your Impact

  • Design, build, and ship features across our native iOS and Android apps, contributing to a shared mobile architecture

  • Bring deep expertise in your primary platform (iOS or Android) while actively growing into the other, raising the bar across both codebases

  • Partner with product, design, and backend engineers to translate patient-care goals into thoughtful, performant mobile experiences

  • Drive architectural direction of our mobile platform, including patterns for shared logic, state management, networking, and offline behavior

  • Champion mobile quality through code review, testing practices, performance profiling, and pragmatic technical decision-making

  • Help integrate AI and LLM-powered features into the mobile experience, identifying opportunities to improve patient engagement and care delivery

  • Own features end-to-end, from scoping through launch, instrumentation, and iteration based on real user data

  • Stay close to the patient experience by collaborating with clinical and operations stakeholders to understand how the app fits into the broader care journey

Required Qualifications

  • 4+ years of professional mobile engineering experience shipping production features in a native iOS or Android app

  • Deep expertise in either Swift/SwiftUI (iOS) or Kotlin/Jetpack Compose (Android), with a strong grasp of platform conventions, lifecycle, and tooling

  • Demonstrated willingness and desire to work across both platforms, contributing meaningfully to your non-primary platform over time

  • Proficiency consuming RESTful APIs and working with backend engineers on contract design, error handling, and authentication flows

  • Proven track record of delivering complex mobile features from scope through launch, including App Store / Play Store release management

  • Strong sense of ownership, a bias toward action, and excellent communication skills in a fast-paced, evolving environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Hands-on production experience across both iOS and Android, or a track record of ramping into a second platform quickly

  • Experience contributing to or designing shared mobile architectures (e.g., shared data models and networking layers, modularization, feature flagging)

  • Background in healthcare, telehealth, or another regulated industry (HIPAA-aware environments a plus)

  • Experience integrating LLM-powered or AI-driven features into mobile apps, including streaming responses, on-device inference, or agentic patterns

  • Experience working with Google Health Connect or Apple HealthKit

  • Experience scaling mobile codebases or release processes at a high-growth startup

What Allara Offers

  • Compensation & Career Growth

    • $162,000-$189,000 with opportunities for advancement

    • Equity

    • Professional development & employee learning programs

Actual compensation will be determined based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to: candidate experience, location, education, certifications, and skill set. In addition to base salary, our total compensation package includes equity, comprehensive health benefits (medical, dental, vision), generous paid time off, and additional wellness and professional development perks.

  • Work Environment & Flexibility

    • 3-day hybrid in NYC

    • Unlimited PTO & 11 company holidays

  • Health & Wellness

    • Medical, dental, and vision benefits

    • Health Savings Account (HSA) & Flexible Spending Account (FSA)

    • Long- and short-term disability coverage

    • Annual employee wellness stipend

  • Family & Future Planning

    • 401(k) plan

    • Parental leave & family planning support benefits

  • Additional Perks

    • Company-issued laptop

    • Annual work-from-home stipend

    • Commuter benefits (if applicable)

    • A collaborative, mission-driven culture focused on improving patient care

At Allara, we believe in celebrating everything that makes us human and are proud to be an equal-opportunity workplace. We embrace diversity and are committed to building a team that represents a variety of backgrounds, perspectives, and skills.
