What does a Remote Android Developer do?

A Remote Android Developer is a software engineer who designs, develops, tests, and maintains applications for devices running the Android operating system, all while working from a remote location outside of a traditional office environment. Their responsibilities include writing clean and efficient code, collaborating with team members via online tools, and troubleshooting bugs. Communication and time management skills are especially important for remote roles to ensure successful project delivery.

What Does a Remote Android Developer Do?

As a remote Android developer, your job is to work from home and program software for Android systems. In this role, your duties may include working on a software application, evaluating the performance of code on each version of the Android platform, integrating common technologies like Java, and assessing whether or not software functions well on each device. Remote Android developers often produce lifecycle documentation, provide technical planning, ensure code quality, and coordinate with other developers. This job title refers exclusively to developing software for Google's Android operating system; remotely developing android robots is a different job and not likely to be found under this title.

How do Remote Android Developers typically collaborate with team members across different time zones?

Remote Android Developers often work with distributed teams, which requires strong communication and collaboration skills. They commonly use tools like Slack, Jira, and GitHub to coordinate tasks, share progress, and conduct code reviews asynchronously. Job description

About Us:
Comfrt is one of the fastest-growing direct-to-consumer brands, dedicated to blending mental wellness, inclusivity, and elevated comfort into every piece we create. Our mission goes beyond clothing — we strive to build a community where everyone feels supported and seen.
About the Job:
As our Senior QA Engineer, you are responsible for ensuring the quality, reliability, and usability of Comfrt's mobile app portfolio and its supporting backend services. Our apps span wellness experiences (including gamified features like streaks, challenges, and rewards) as well as Shopify-powered eCommerce. You will split your time between manual testing of app functionality and building and maintaining automated tests to streamline QA coverage and regression protection. You will work closely with engineering, product, and design teams to test new features, identify edge cases, and validate that changes perform well across iOS and Android devices and through the full customer experience.

Responsibilities:

  • Own and execute end-to-end manual testing of new features, content updates, and integrations across the mobile app
  • Design, develop, and maintain automated UI test scripts using mobile automation tooling
  • Create detailed test plans, test cases, and acceptance criteria based on product specs
  • Perform cross-platform testing across iOS and Android to ensure consistent behavior and UX
  • Validate accessibility compliance against WCAG 2.2 AA standards on iOS and Android, including testing with native screen readers (VoiceOver, TalkBack)
  • Write and execute API tests against our serverless backend, including REST and GraphQL endpoints
  • Proactively identify, document, and track bugs and edge cases through to resolution
  • Collaborate with developers to understand how features are built and how best to test them
  • Maintain testing coverage for high-impact user journeys across all apps, including wellness flows, gamification mechanics (streaks, rewards, challenges), and eCommerce flows such as cart, checkout, and post-purchase
  • Own and improve regression test processes for every release cycle
  • Contribute to QA documentation, reporting, and test environment management

Requirements:

  • 5-7 years of experience in Quality Assurance or Software Testing within a mobile or digital product environment
  • Hands-on experience with mobile test automation frameworks such as Maestro, Detox, or Appium
  • Solid understanding of manual testing methodologies, test case design, and bug tracking
  • Experience testing React Native applications on iOS and Android
  • Experience writing and executing API tests, including REST and GraphQL, using TypeScript
  • Proficiency in TypeScript
  • Familiarity with Git and collaborative version control workflows
  • Experience using AI tools to accelerate test development, exploratory testing, and QA workflows
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to think critically about edge cases and user flows
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally with engineering, product, and design teams
  • Experience with mobile accessibility testing, including manual testing with VoiceOver and TalkBack and auditing with platform tools such as Xcode Accessibility Inspector and Android Accessibility Scanner
  • Experience with bug tracking and project management tools

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience testing against serverless, cloud-native backend architectures
  • Experience testing Shopify-powered mobile or eCommerce experiences
  • Experience testing gamified product features such as streaks, progression systems, animations, or reward logic
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and integrating automated tests into deployment workflows
  • Experience with cloud-based device testing platforms
  • Familiarity with load or performance testing tools
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience

Why Join Comfrt?

  • Be part of a purpose-driven company that’s shaping the future of comfort and mental wellness.
  • Work in a supportive, creative environment where your ideas and growth are valued.
  • Enjoy Comfrt benefits such as generous paid time off, company-covered health insurance, 5% 401k match, and discounts on all Comfrt products!
