Job description
At WebstaurantStore, our mobile app helps restaurant owners and operators order supplies, manage purchases, and stay informed wherever they are. As our Front-End Development Manager, you'll lead a team of developers responsible for building and improving the customer experience across iOS and Android.
This is a people-first leadership role. Your primary focus is building a healthy, high-performing team by coaching, creating clarity around priorities, improving how work gets delivered, and helping your team grow. You'll stay close enough to the technology to guide decisions, remove obstacles, and support technical excellence, but your greatest impact will come through developing people and enabling great work.
You'll partner closely with Product, Design, and Development to deliver experiences that solve real customer problems and support one of the industry's leading ecommerce platforms.
Responsibilities- Lead, coach, and develop a team of developers through feedback, mentorship, hiring, and career development.
- Build a collaborative, accountable team culture with clear priorities, ownership, and expectations.
- Guide the delivery of new features, technical improvements, and platform initiatives while removing obstacles and managing risks.
- Provide technical leadership by helping the team navigate tradeoffs and maintain high standards for quality, accessibility, performance, and maintainability.
- Improve engineering practices, team processes, and ways of working.
- Partner closely with Product, Design, Accessibility, and Engineering to deliver exceptional customer experiences.
- Communicate priorities, progress, and risks while connecting engineering work to customer and business goals.
- Contribute to technical strategy and continuous improvement across the front-end organization.
- Work is performed while sitting/standing and interfacing with a personal computer.
- Requires the ability to communicate effectively using speech, vision, and hearing.
- Requires the regular use of hands for simple grasping and fine manipulations.
- Requires occasional bending, squatting, crawling, climbing, and reaching.
- Requires the ability to occasionally lift, carry, push, or pull medium weights, up to 50lbs.
- Access to a reliable and secure high-speed internet connection. Cable or fiber internet connections (at least 75mbps download/10mbps upload) are preferred, as satellite connections often cannot support the technologies used to perform day-to-day tasks.
- Access to a home router and modem.
- A dedicated home office space that is noise- and distraction-free. The space should have strong wireless connection or a wired Ethernet connection (wired connection is preferred, if possible).
- A valid, physical address (apartment, suite, etc.). PO Boxes are not supported, as a physical address is required for you to receive your computer equipment.
- The desire and ability to work and communicate with other team members via chat, webcam, etc.
- Legal residents of one of the following states: (AK, AL, AR, AZ, CT, DE, FL, GA, IA, ID, IN, KS, KY, LA, MD, ME, MI, MN, MO, MS, MT, NC, ND, NE, NH, NM, NV, OH, OK, PA, SC, SD, TN, TX, UT, VA, VT, WI, WV, or WY). H-1B Visa Sponsorship Not Available, W2 only.
- 5+ years of development experience, including significant experience building and delivering mobile applications.
- Experience building mobile applications with React Native and TypeScript, or leading teams that do.
- 3+ years of experience leading and growing developers through coaching, feedback, performance management, and career growth.
- Experience leading project delivery and coordinating work across cross-functional teams.
- Strong understanding of mobile application architecture, performance, testing, maintainability, and user experience.
- Experience partnering closely with Product, Design, Accessibility, and Engineering throughout the product development lifecycle.
This role does not require a degree. We value relevant skills and experience and alignment with our core values above all else.
Desired Traits & Skills- Enjoys helping developers grow and succeed.
- Leads with trust, accountability, and empathy.
- Balances technical quality with practical delivery.
