What are Remote American K9 Detection Services?

Remote American K9 Detection Services refers to specialized security operations that use trained dogs (K9s) to detect explosives, narcotics, or other contraband at various locations, often in partnership with American K9 Detection Services, a company known for providing skilled canine teams. These services can be deployed remotely, meaning they are sent to specific sites such as airports, ports, schools, or events to support security measures. Handlers and their dogs conduct thorough searches to enhance safety and comply with regulatory standards. Working in this field typically requires specialized training for both the handler and the canine, and may involve travel or varying shifts depending on client needs.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a K9 detection handler (remote)?

To thrive as a K9 Detection Handler, you need expertise in canine handling, knowledge of scent detection techniques, and relevant certifications such as NASDU or equivalent. Familiarity with GPS tracking systems, communication devices, and canine training software is typically required. Strong observational skills, reliability, and effective teamwork are important soft skills for this position. These competencies are essential for ensuring accurate detection, maintaining safety, and supporting mission-critical operations in diverse remote environments.

What are some common challenges faced by remote handlers working for American K9 Detection Services, and how can they be addressed?

Remote handlers at American K9 Detection Services often face unique challenges, such as maintaining clear communication with both the central team and onsite personnel, ensuring canine welfare when working independently, and adapting to varying client sites and protocols. Staying proactive with regular check-ins, leveraging digital communication tools, and participating in ongoing training help address these challenges. Additionally, building strong relationships with local contacts and keeping detailed records ensures both handler and canine can operate effectively and safely in remote settings.

Job description

Business Development Manager

Company: Stratoscope
Location: U.S. Remote, with 10 - 25% domestic U.S. travel
Compensation: $65,000 - $75,000 base salary, plus performance-based, uncapped, commission targeted at 50% of base salary or more

Role Overview

Stratoscope is seeking a driven, growth-minded Business Development Manager to help expand our client base and generate new business across our portfolio of security, event, technology, and risk management solutions.

Our Purpose: We exist to make complex environments safer, more predictable, and better managed through disciplined planning and professional execution.

As a Business Development Manager, you will help advance this purpose by identifying prospective clients, building relationships, uncovering needs, and connecting organizations with the right combination of Stratoscope capabilities.

Stratoscope provides consulting and operational expertise across complex event and security environments, supported by specialized capabilities across the broader Stratoscope organization, including Ingressotek, Stratos K9, Stratos EP, and other solutions. Together, our capabilities span event security and operations, crowd management, security planning, weapons detection and screening technology, K9 detection services, executive protection, and related security and risk solutions.

This is a hands-on, quota-carrying sales role for someone who wants to build. You will be expected to create your own opportunities through consistent prospecting and relationship development while also advancing qualified opportunities through the sales process. You'll work alongside experienced leaders and subject matter experts while developing the relationships, industry knowledge, and commercial skills needed to grow into an increasingly sophisticated seller.

We're looking for a rising sales professional who combines initiative and persistence with curiosity, professionalism, and strong business judgment. Experience in security, live events, sports and entertainment, or a related industry is extremely valuable.

What You Will Do

Build pipeline. Proactively identify and engage prospective clients through outbound outreach, networking, referrals, industry events, strategic research, and other business development activities. Take ownership of creating opportunities rather than relying solely on inbound leads.

Develop new client relationships. Build credibility with prospective clients, learn their businesses and operating environments, and identify challenges that Stratoscope may be positioned to solve.

Sell across the Stratoscope portfolio. Develop a working knowledge of Stratoscope's broader capabilities, identify opportunities across event security and operations, consulting, crowd management, screening technology, K9 detection, executive protection, and other security and risk solutions, and connect clients with the appropriate internal experts when specialized support is needed.

Advance opportunities through the sales process. Manage opportunities from initial outreach and discovery through the appropriate stages of the sales process. Depending on the solution and client need, independently drive opportunities through close or coordinate with the appropriate Stratoscope leaders and subject matter experts to transition or jointly advance the opportunity.

Conduct thoughtful discovery. Ask the right questions to understand a prospect's needs, priorities, challenges, and decision-making process. Bring in the appropriate Stratoscope subject matter experts to help develop solutions when needed.

Support proposals and presentations. Help develop compelling proposals, presentations, pricing materials, and other client-facing deliverables that clearly communicate Stratoscope's capabilities and value.

Develop your network. Build relationships across relevant industries and markets, including sports and entertainment, live events, corporate security, venues, event production, government, and other environments where Stratoscope's capabilities can provide value.

Represent Stratoscope in the market. Attend conferences, industry events, client meetings, site visits, and other business development opportunities throughout the United States.

Manage your business with discipline. Maintain accurate CRM records, manage your pipeline and follow-up activity, track progress against sales goals, and provide reliable visibility into opportunities and next steps.

Requirements

What You Will Bring
  • 3–5 years of B2B sales, business development, or relevant industry experience.
  • Demonstrated success generating new business, building pipeline, and/or contributing to revenue growth.
  • Experience working toward individual sales goals, quotas, or other measurable business development targets.
  • A willingness and ability to prospect actively and consistently—you are comfortable doing the work required to create opportunities from the ground up.
  • Strong relationship-building skills and the confidence to engage prospective clients through phone, email, networking, meetings, and industry events.
  • A consultative approach to sales, with the curiosity to understand a client's needs before recommending a solution.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate professionally with clients and prospects.
  • Excellent organization, follow-through, and attention to detail.
  • Comfort operating in a fast-moving, entrepreneurial environment where initiative and personal accountability matter.
  • Ability and willingness to travel approximately 50–75% throughout the United States.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Sales, business development, or professional experience within security, risk management, live events, sports and entertainment, venue operations, security technology, executive protection, or another related industry.
  • Existing relationships within sports and entertainment, corporate security, venues, event production, higher education, government, or other relevant markets.
  • Familiarity with event operations including security, weapons detection and screening, K9 detection, executive protection, or related disciplines.
  • Experience using a CRM to manage prospecting activity, pipeline, and sales opportunities.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant professional experience.
Who You Are

You are a builder. You don't wait for opportunities to land in your inbox—you are willing to research prospects, make the call, send the email, work your network, attend the event, and consistently follow up to create momentum.

You are competitive and motivated by results, but you understand that strong sales performance starts with credibility and relationships. You listen well, ask thoughtful questions, and want to understand what a client actually needs rather than simply pushing a product or service.

You are ambitious. You have built a foundation in sales and are ready for a role where you can take on greater ownership, broaden your capabilities, and develop into a high-performing seller. You welcome coaching, learn quickly, and aren't afraid of the work required to get better.

Most importantly, you take ownership. You follow through on commitments, keep your pipeline organized, hold yourself accountable to results, and bring energy and professionalism to the way you represent Stratoscope.
