Job description

At Bluesight, our mission is to create groundbreaking solutions that increase efficiency, safety and visibility for health systems, hospital pharmacy, and pharmaceutical manufacturers.  We empower our customers to deliver the right medicine to the right patient at the right time, every time.  We are a high growth healthcare information technology company with a start-up 'vibe' but over 3,000 customers using our proven solutions.

You'll help shape, build and grow the foundations of our platform. We're excited for the perspectives you bring and looking forward to your approach to our goals. You'll be responsible for contributing to, operating, and improving all aspects of our infrastructure and the developer experience with the infrastructure. You are able to maintain a holistic view of the development, testing, and production environments, while collaborating with all members of the technical team to support, maintain, and deploy the best products possible. You'll also set technical direction for the team and take ownership of how infrastructure projects are scoped and tracked. The ideal candidate will be very experienced with Amazon Web Services, infrastructure-as-code tools like Cloudformation or Terraform, and a strong desire to foster and grow an empathic and cooperative engineering culture.

Behind the scenes, the team is working to improve the durability and efficiency of our products by improving the tooling, deployment, and shared computing layer for the company, while optimizing for cost, scale, and fault-tolerance on AWS. As Bluesight grows, these will be key initiatives enabling Bluesight developers the ability to deliver operationally excellent and highly available products to our customers.

The team's scope of work includes tooling and systems for continuous integration and deployment (CI/CD), access control, benchmarking, observability, incident response, database replication, cost engineering, and more.

You Can Expect To
  • Actively identify, plan and implement developer tooling and automation
  • Participate in on-call rotations and assist on-call engineering teams with diagnostics and troubleshooting of platform and infrastructure
  • Set technical direction for the team's infrastructure decisions, and take an active role in defining overall DevOps strategy and quarterly planning
  • Own scoping and estimation for infra projects, and hold timelines accountable once set
  • Take on some mentoring/technical growth responsibilities for team members
Required Qualifications
  • 6+ years in Developer ci/cd tooling, site reliability or infrastructure engineering roles
  • Track record of leading technical design, not just executing it
  • Comfortable communicating technical trade-offs and decisions to both engineers and non-technical stakeholders
  • Proven ability to design and develop scalable, efficient, and cost-conscious fault-tolerant systems
  • Prior experience mentoring engineers or informal people leadership
  • Ability to work through ambiguity with asynchronous communication and autonomy
  • Experience scoping/estimating technical work and catching scope creep early
  • Experience with supporting applications in one or more of Python, Java or Ruby
  • Success implementing infrastructure as code including pipelines as code (Terraform, Helm etc.) and containers (Docker, K8s)
  • Site Reliability in a cloud environment (AWS)
  • Expert-level knowledge with production observability systems (Datadog, HoneyComb or Sensu/NewRelic etc.)
  • Linux system administration expertise
Preferred Qualifications
  • Deep experience with IAM and implementation of hybrid RBAC/ABAC policy environments
  • Database management expertise, especially the AWS flavors (RDS, Aurora)
  • Security and compliance control experience, especially with SOC2, HIPAA, or HiTRUST controls
  • Any code, writing, or projects that are public or shareable demonstrating experience or understanding of how operational excellence is key to delivering great products
What You'll Get From Us
  • Opportunities to solve problems of scale, debt, and security to redefine what's possible in medication intelligence
  • Challenging and difficult problems bridging our hardware and software platforms
  • A strong voice in what we work on, how it works, and how we build it
  • Our trust in your ownership of your work
  • Dedicated budget for training and career development
  • Coworkers who you'll learn from, who will push you, and who are looking to learn from you
