Logistics and Last-Mile Procurement Specialist - 1099 Contractor Remote

Position Overview
The successful candidate will have a demonstrated track record in strategic sourcing, procurement, and supplier management within logistics, transportation, last-mile delivery, and fleet operations. This individual will be recognized for their ability to develop strong client relationships, deliver measurable sourcing outcomes, and provide market expertise across courier networks, regional carriers, fleet management, and logistics technology solutions.
The candidate will serve as a trusted advisor to clients, helping them optimize logistics spend, reduce operational costs, improve service quality, and manage supplier performance through data-driven sourcing strategies and contract management.
Responsibilities
This position will report to the appropriate Practice Leader and will support client engagements with a focus on procurement strategy, sourcing execution, supplier management, and logistics transformation initiatives.
  • Travel as required to support client engagements and supplier activities
  • Lead strategic sourcing initiatives across logistics categories including:
    • Last-mile delivery networks
    • Courier services
    • Regional and national transportation providers
    • Fleet management solutions
    • Route optimization and telematics technologies
  • Conduct market assessments, supplier evaluations, and competitive sourcing events
  • Develop and execute procurement strategies aligned with client business objectives
  • Lead supplier negotiations and contract development efforts to drive cost savings, service improvements, and risk mitigation
  • Design and implement robust Service Level Agreements (SLAs), Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), and supplier governance frameworks
  • Conduct logistics market intelligence research, benchmarking, total cost of ownership (TCO), and should-cost analyses
  • Build compelling business cases supported by quantitative analysis and market data
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with operations, transportation, finance, legal, and executive stakeholders
  • Analyze logistics and transportation spend data to identify sourcing opportunities and operational improvements
  • Manage supplier performance, contract compliance, and ongoing vendor risk assessments
  • Lead project workstreams, including project planning, stakeholder management, issue resolution, and executive-level reporting
  • Support business development efforts through subject matter expertise, proposal development, and client presentations
  • Generate client value through procurement transformation initiatives and strategic supplier partnerships

Required Skillsets
  • 8+ years of experience in strategic sourcing, procurement, supply chain, logistics, transportation, or consulting, with a proven track record of success leading sourcing and supplier management initiatives
  • Demonstrated experience sourcing and managing contracts for last-mile delivery networks, courier services, regional carriers, transportation providers, and logistics service suppliers across the U.S.
  • Strong understanding of fleet management, transportation operations, telematics solutions, route optimization technologies, and digital logistics platforms
  • Proven experience leading complex sourcing events, supplier negotiations, contract development, and vendor relationship management programs
  • Expertise in developing and managing Service Level Agreements (SLAs), Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), supplier governance frameworks, and vendor risk management programs
  • Experience conducting logistics market intelligence, benchmarking, total cost of ownership (TCO) analyses, should-cost modeling, spend analysis, and business case development to support strategic decision making
  • Demonstrated ability to identify cost reduction opportunities, improve supplier performance, and drive operational efficiencies through data-driven procurement strategies
  • Served as a trusted advisor and interfaced with executive-level stakeholders, including the ability to translate business requirements into sourcing, procurement, and operational improvement opportunities
  • Significant project delivery and stakeholder management experience, including managing cross-functional teams, supplier relationships, and multiple concurrent initiatives
  • Strong business acumen with exceptional active listening, collaboration, negotiation, presentation, verbal, and written communication skills

Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Logistics, Procurement, Operations Management, Finance, or a related field.
  • MBA, Master's degree, CPSM, CPSD, CSCP, C.P.M., or other procurement/supply chain certifications preferred.
