Inbound TMS Manager (Remote - Travel Required)
Location: Remote reporting to Windsor Locks, CT (preference for candidates near major airports in Charlotte, Atlanta, Hartford, Boston, NYC, Baltimore, DC, Miami, Orlando, Palm Beach)
Pay: $47.75/hr | Contract: 1 year | US Citizen with valid US Passport
About the Role
Take ownership of inbound transportation management for a leading aerospace organization. As the Inbound TMS Manager, you'll drive process improvement, ensure compliance, and lead cross-functional teams to optimize shipping and logistics. Enjoy a remote-first environment with up to 25% international travel, working with top-tier suppliers, buyers, and logistics partners.
Responsibilities
- Drive compliance: Collaborate with site logistics leaders, suppliers, and carriers to standardize and improve TMS shipping processes.
- Deliver results: Monitor partner performance and deliver actionable feedback to drive continuous service enhancements.
- Lead documentation: Develop and maintain TMS implementation, integration, and process documentation for training and standard work.
- Manage projects: Define project scope, communicate progress to leadership, and ensure timely delivery of TMS solutions.
- Train and support: Mentor operations personnel and suppliers on TMS platforms, provide post-launch support, and facilitate process alignment.
- Optimize processes: Design and deploy systematic logistics workflows, ensuring process standardization, cost savings, and compliance with global trade regulations (including ITAR).
- Cross-functional collaboration: Interface with Finance, Supply Chain, Operations, and Customer Service to implement and improve TMS solutions.
- Communicate proactively: Alert leadership and stakeholders to critical TMS changes and disruptions.
- Foster teamwork: Work closely with outbound TMS counterparts to share insights and improve overall TMS project outcomes.
Required Skills and Experience
- Bachelor's degree with 5+ years' relevant experience, or advanced degree with 3+ years, or 9+ years of relevant experience in lieu of degree.
- Deep expertise in Transportation Management System (TMS) operations and logistics process improvement.
- Strong project management, documentation, and cross-functional collaboration capabilities.
- US citizenship and valid US passport.
- Willingness and ability to travel internationally up to 25%.
Preferred Skills
- Experience in domestic and international freight management in North America.
- Hands-on experience implementing TMS or ERP (SAP preferred) in a complex, multi-mode logistics environment (parcel, air, truckload, LTL, dedicated carriage).
- Familiarity with shipping/transportation software systems.
- Professional certifications (ISM, APICS) highly valued.
