What is remote airline fleet planning?

Remote airline fleet planning involves managing and optimizing an airline's aircraft fleet from a remote location, utilizing specialized software and data analysis tools. Fleet planners analyze data on aircraft performance, maintenance schedules, passenger demand, and market trends to make decisions about aircraft acquisitions, retirements, and deployments. This role is crucial for ensuring an airline operates efficiently and meets customer needs, even when the planning team is not located at airline headquarters. Remote fleet planners collaborate with operations, finance, and technical teams using digital communication tools to achieve strategic goals.

About Avocet Aviation Services

Avocet Aviation Services is a growing airframe MRO specializing in heavy maintenance, aircraft transitions, cargo conversions, painting, teardowns, and aviation aftermarket solutions. Operating from facilities in Sanford and Lakeland, Florida, we support airlines, cargo operators, leasing companies, and aviation asset owners across The Americas and beyond.

Backed by significant investment and an ambitious growth strategy, Avocet is building the foundation to become a leading provider of maintenance and modification services in the aviation industry. We are expanding our capabilities, growing our facilities, and investing in the commercial team needed to support the next phase of growth. This is an opportunity to join early, help shape the future of the organization, and directly influence the growth of the business.

The Role

We are looking for an experienced aviation business development professional who knows how to build relationships, create opportunities, and open doors. This is not an inside sales role, and it is not a position for someone waiting for leads to arrive. We need someone who enjoys prospecting, networking, attending industry events, and developing relationships with airlines, lessors, cargo operators, OEMs, and aviation service providers.

You do not need to be an expert in heavy maintenance. But you do need to understand the aviation ecosystem, speak the language of the industry, and have the credibility to engage maintenance, engineering, fleet, and technical operations professionals. You will work directly with Avocet's Sales Director to identify opportunities, expand our market presence, and help build a scalable commercial organization.

Responsibilities

Business Development & Prospecting

  • Identify and develop new airline, cargo, leasing, and MRO opportunities
  • Conduct outreach through phone, email, LinkedIn, referrals, and industry networking
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key decision makers across the aviation industry
  • Generate qualified opportunities and schedule meetings for the commercial team
  • Research target accounts, fleets, maintenance strategies, and market trends

Customer Engagement

  • Attend customer meetings, facility visits, and industry conferences
  • Represent Avocet at major aviation events including MRO Americas, ISTAT, Cargo Facts, and other industry conferences
  • Develop relationships with maintenance, engineering, fleet planning, and technical operations leaders
  • Support account growth initiatives within existing customers

Pipeline & Sales Process

  • Maintain accurate CRM records and opportunity tracking
  • Manage prospecting activity and follow-up cadence
  • Support proposal development and customer qualification efforts
  • Assist in developing strategic account plans and market expansion initiatives
  • Provide market intelligence and competitive insights

What Success Looks Like

First 90 Days

  • Develop a strong understanding of Avocet's capabilities, facilities, and target markets
  • Build a prioritized target account list
  • Establish a consistent prospecting cadence
  • Begin generating qualified meetings and opportunities

Six Months

  • Contribute meaningful pipeline growth through self-generated opportunities
  • Establish relationships across key airline, cargo, and leasing accounts
  • Become a recognized representative of Avocet within the industry
  • Consistently create opportunities that advance into active sales pursuits

Twelve Months

  • Demonstrate measurable contribution to revenue growth through originated opportunities
  • Become a trusted industry contact within assigned accounts and markets
  • Expand Avocet's reach into new customer segments and strategic relationships
  • Help build a repeatable business development engine that supports long-term growth

Requirements

Experience

  • 5+ years of aviation industry experience preferred
  • Previous experience in business development, sales, account management, technical services, maintenance planning, leasing, or related aviation roles
  • Existing aviation industry relationships strongly preferred
  • Experience working with airlines, lessors, MROs, OEMs, or aviation service providers

Industry Knowledge

  • General understanding of commercial aviation operations
  • Familiarity with aircraft maintenance, MRO services, leasing, or aviation aftermarket activities
  • Understanding of airline organizational structures and decision-making processes
  • Ability to engage technical and commercial stakeholders with confidence

Skills

  • Strong relationship-building and networking abilities
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Self-motivated and comfortable working remotely
  • Organized, disciplined, and capable of managing multiple opportunities simultaneously
  • Proficiency with CRM systems and Microsoft Office applications

Personal Attributes

  • Naturally curious and proactive
  • Comfortable initiating conversations with new prospects
  • Professional, accountable, and results-oriented
  • Strong work ethic with a willingness to travel and represent the company
  • Team player who thrives in a growing organization
  • Comfortable operating in an environment where processes are still being built and refined

Compensation & Benefits

  • Competitive base salary
