A Remote Airframe Powerplant Inspection Authorization refers to a certification granted by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) that allows an aviation mechanic, often working remotely or at various locations, to inspect, approve, and return aircraft and their powerplants to service after major repairs or alterations. This authorization, known as Inspection Authorization (IA), is an advanced credential held by experienced Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) mechanics.
