You will serve as an Aircraft Mechanic Leader in the Aviation Maintenance/Material Department of FLEET READINESS CENTER SOUTHWEST.

Duties
Help

• You will inspect, analyze, assess and determine the condition of aircraft flight control, hydraulic, pneudraulic, environmental and mechanical system components.
• You will perform overhaul, repair, align, test, and diagnose aircraft systems and components while leading a crew within a Cell Based Work Environment (CBWE) in an aircraft production line.
• You will provide technical advice and work direction to artisans and answer questions for the supervisor on overall work operations and related problems.
• You will collect and provide data for engineering Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) and logistics analysis, norms and budget formulation, material forecasting, and workload planning.
• You will assure that safety, tool control, foreign object damage (FOD), Hazmat, and housekeeping rules are followed.
• You will make detailed safety, static/operational inspections of aircraft system, engine, components and structure, and inspects aircraft condition/performance acceptability for movement flight test.

• You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
• Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
• This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. The Screen-out Element for this position is: ABILITY TO DO THE WORK OF THE POSITION WITHOUT MORE THAN NORMAL SUPERVISION:
(1) Possessing knowledge and experience with Planned Maintenance Interval (PMI), In-Service Repair (ISR), and Modification processes and procedures; (2) Demonstrating in-depth knowledge of the operating principles, functions, and technical orientation of aircraft mechanical, hydraulic, pneudraulic, environmental systems, subsystems, accessories, and components; (3) Reading and interpreting blueprints, schematics, drawings, diagrams, engineering specifications, technical instructions, aircraft/engine logbooks, and technical directives; (4) Providing technical advice and recommendations to production, support organizations, and customers regarding the examination and evaluation results; and (5) Diagnosing trouble revealed by inspections and tests along with determing the extent of adjustment and performing necessary repairs.

Additional information
This position is subject to an initial drug screening, and random testing thereafter. A negative drug test result must be received by HR within 30 calendar days after the EOD (i.e., start date). The selectee's inability to successfully pass; or refusal to conduct the test may result in: 1) the tentative or final job offer being withdrawn during the recruitment process; or 2) subsequently being removed from Federal service for failure to meet a condition of employment. You may be required to sign a "Drug Test Statement of Understanding" if you are selected for this position.
