Remote Aircraft Fuel System information

What is a remote aircraft fuel system?

Remote aircraft fuel systems are specialized systems designed to manage, monitor, and control the fuel supply of aircraft from a distance, often using digital or wireless technology. These systems enable operators to oversee fuel levels, distribution, and usage without needing to be physically present at the aircraft. They play a critical role in improving safety, efficiency, and accuracy in fuel management for both commercial and military aviation. Responsibilities in this field may include system monitoring, troubleshooting, maintenance, and ensuring compliance with aviation fuel regulations.

What skills and qualifications are needed to work in remote aircraft fuel systems?

To thrive as a Remote Aircraft Fuel System Technician, you need expertise in aviation fuel systems, mechanical troubleshooting, and relevant technical certifications such as an FAA Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) license. Familiarity with aircraft maintenance management software, diagnostic tools, and remote communication platforms is typically required. Strong attention to detail, problem-solving abilities, and effective communication skills are essential for accurate diagnostics and collaboration with remote teams. These skills ensure the safe, efficient, and compliant operation of aircraft fuel systems, especially when working remotely.

What are common challenges faced by professionals working in remote aircraft fuel system roles, and how can they be addressed?

Professionals in remote aircraft fuel system positions often encounter challenges such as troubleshooting fuel system issues without immediate on-site support, ensuring clear communication with maintenance teams, and maintaining compliance with safety standards from a distance. These challenges can be addressed by leveraging advanced diagnostic tools, participating in regular virtual training, and establishing robust communication protocols with on-site personnel. Building strong relationships with team members and staying updated on the latest fuel system technologies also contribute to effective problem-solving in remote settings.

  • Travel: Up to 75%
  • Openings: 4
  • Employment Type: Full-Time

Build. Travel. Install. Get Paid Well.

We are seeking Field Service Engineers / Machine Installation Technicians to join a growing team responsible for installing and supporting custom automated equipment at customer facilities throughout the United States.
This is a fully remote position, with a strong preference for candidates located in or around Indianapolis, Indiana. The role is ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on work, traveling to customer sites, and seeing complex machinery go from the shop floor to full installation and operation.

We are open to candidates at all experience levels, including experienced Machine Builders, Field Service Technicians, Installation Technicians, and Lead-level professionals.

What You'll Do
  • Perform complete mechanical and electrical installation of custom automated equipment at customer facilities.
  • Assemble, install, and assist with startup of complex machinery and automation systems.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and other equipment-related issues.
  • Work with customer teams and internal engineering personnel to complete installations safely and efficiently.
  • Use forklifts, rigging equipment, and other material-handling equipment to position and install machinery.
  • Support equipment startup, testing, and commissioning.
  • Maintain a professional presence while working directly with customers.
  • Travel to customer locations throughout Indiana and primarily the East Coast.
Travel & Schedule
  • Up to 75% travel.
  • Travel is primarily throughout Indiana and the East Coast.
  • Assignments can last up to three weeks at a time.
  • Some assignments will require staying over weekends.
  • Travel time is paid.
  • This is a remote position, so you can be based outside of Indianapolis; however, Indianapolis is the preferred location.
Compensation & Travel Benefits
  • Pay up to $45/hour, based on experience.
  • $7,200 annual vehicle allowance, paid bi-weekly.
  • Gas/fuel expenses can be expensed separately.
  • 1.5x overtime for hours worked between 40–60 per week.
  • 2x overtime for hours worked over 60 per week.
What We're Looking For
  • Experience with machine building, equipment installation, field service, or industrial automation.
  • Strong mechanical assembly and troubleshooting skills.
  • Electrical experience is highly preferred.
  • Experience with PLCs and controls is a plus.
  • Pneumatic system experience is preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical and electrical drawings.
  • Comfortable working with tools, rigging, forklifts, and other equipment used during machine installation.
Why Consider This Opportunity?
This is a great opportunity for someone who wants the flexibility of a remote position without being tied to a traditional office or plant environment.
You'll work on custom automated equipment, travel to a variety of customer facilities, and gain exposure to complex machinery and automation projects—all while earning a competitive hourly rate with paid travel, a $7,200 vehicle allowance, reimbursed fuel, and significant overtime earning potential.

Qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, age, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability, protected veteran status, or genetic information.
