Remote Ai Model Training involves developing and refining AI models through coding and data processing, while Remote Data Scientists analyze data to generate insights and support decision-making. Both roles require strong technical skills but differ in focus and daily tasks.

What skills and qualifications are needed for remote AI model training?

To thrive in Remote AI Model Training, you need a solid background in computer science, data analysis, and machine learning concepts, often supported by a relevant degree or certifications. Familiarity with programming languages like Python, machine learning frameworks such as TensorFlow or PyTorch, and data labeling tools is typically required. Strong attention to detail, self-motivation, and effective communication are vital soft skills for working independently and collaborating virtually. These competencies ensure accurate model development, efficient workflow, and successful teamwork in a remote environment.

What are common challenges in remote AI model training and how can they be addressed?

Professionals in remote AI model training often face challenges such as coordinating across time zones, ensuring data security, and maintaining effective communication with cross-functional teams. To address these, it's important to establish clear communication channels, leverage secure data-sharing platforms, and participate in regular virtual meetings. Additionally, setting structured working hours and documenting processes can help ensure smooth collaboration and project progress, even when team members are distributed globally.

What is remote AI model training?

Remote AI model training refers to the process of developing and refining artificial intelligence models from a location outside of a traditional office or lab setting, typically via cloud-based platforms. AI professionals use remote access to powerful computing resources to train machine learning models on large datasets, collaborating with teams and managing workflows online. This approach allows flexibility, access to scalable resources, and the ability to work with global teams, making it increasingly popular in the tech industry.

About micro1
micro1 is the leading AI data lab for training frontier models and evaluating AI agents. Experts contribute their diverse subject matter knowledge across domains such as finance, healthcare, STEM engineering, and more. micro1 transforms that real-world expertise into high-quality training data, evaluations, and feedback loops that improve how AI systems learn, reason, and perform.

Our platform identifies and vets top talent through an AI recruiter, enabling high-quality expert contributions at scale. We aim to enable 1 billion people to do meaningful work by applying their expertise to AI. As our global expert network grows, micro1 is building the human intelligence layer for frontier AI.

Role Title: SolidWorks Specialist

Role Type: Contractor

Location: Remote

micro1 is engaging SolidWorks Specialists to contribute to a high-impact mechanical design project for an innovative customer. In this role, you'll apply your expertise to help train next-generation AI systems. Your work will shape how models learn, reason, and perform through high-quality, real-world input. No prior experience in AI is required โ€” your domain knowledge is what matters.

Scope of Work

  1. Create fully-parametric 3D CAD models of mechanical parts and assemblies based on written briefs, focusing on robust feature trees and precise constraints.
  2. Edit and update existing parametric models to meet new technical requirements, ensuring complete documentation of changes.
  3. Audit and review models for dimensional accuracy, proper tolerance application, and manufacturability across various processes.
  4. Apply deep knowledge of DFM principles for injection molding, sheet metal, CNC machining, and casting/forging throughout modeling tasks.
  5. Translate design intent and requirements into clear, structured CAD data suitable for AI model training.
  6. Communicate effectively with project coordinators and fellow contributors through detailed written reports and verbal updates.

Preferred Qualifications

  1. 4+ years of hands-on parametric CAD experience (SolidWorks, FreeCAD, Fusion 360, or Autodesk Inventor) for editing, and 10+ years for creation of complex assemblies.
  2. Practical application of GD&T per ASME Y14.5 or equivalent standards in real-world manufacturing contexts.
  3. Track record in supporting at least two or more manufacturing methods: injection molding, sheet metal, CNC, or casting/forging.
  4. Current, active involvement in mechanical/industrial CAD modeling.
  5. Strong written and verbal communication skills, with emphasis on clear, concise project documentation.
  6. Reverse engineering capability (e.g., scan-to-CAD, point cloud conversions) considered a significant advantage.
  7. Experience with assembly-level modeling and, optionally, automating CAD workflows via scripting (Python, iLogic, VBA, etc.).
