Remote Ai Data Collection information

What is remote AI data collection?

Remote AI data collection refers to the process of gathering and labeling data—such as images, audio, text, or video—from various sources using digital tools, often from a remote location. This data is used to train and improve artificial intelligence and machine learning models. People working in this field can perform tasks like annotating images, transcribing audio, or categorizing text, all from their home or another remote setting. The work is essential for creating accurate AI systems and often offers flexible hours. It usually requires basic computer skills and attention to detail.

What skills and qualifications are needed for a remote AI data collection specialist?

To thrive as a Remote AI Data Collection Specialist, you need attention to detail, data management skills, and a basic understanding of machine learning concepts, often supported by a degree in computer science or related fields. Familiarity with data annotation tools, spreadsheets, and platforms like Labelbox or Amazon SageMaker is commonly required. Strong communication, time management, and problem-solving skills are important for collaborating remotely and meeting project deadlines. These abilities ensure accurate, efficient data gathering and annotation, which are critical for the quality and reliability of AI model development.

What are common challenges in a remote AI data collection role, and how can they be managed?

A common challenge in Remote AI Data Collection roles is ensuring data quality and consistency, especially when working independently without direct supervision. It is important to follow detailed guidelines precisely and communicate proactively with project managers or team leads whenever uncertainties arise. Time management and maintaining motivation can also be challenging when working remotely, so setting a structured schedule and leveraging collaboration tools can help. Regular check-ins with the team and staying updated with project requirements are key to overcoming these challenges and delivering reliable results.

Job description

Role Overview

This is a highly client-facing role. You will operate as a Program Manager for data and AI programs, accountable for both execution and client outcomes. You will be the "one hand to shake" - orchestrating multi-geo phData teams and partners, and ensuring technical delivery translates into measurable business impact.

Core Responsibilities

  • Lead complex AI and data programs as the primary point of contact for client sponsors and partners, owning successful delivery and client outcomes.
  • Translate client strategy into clear roadmaps and integrated delivery plans, balancing pace, quality, scope, and risk across multi-geo teams.
  • Partner closely with technical delivery leads, architects, and engineers to ensure delivery aligns to business goals and measurable value.
  • Own engagement financials including budget, burn, margins, forecasting, utilization, and change control; proactively manage risk and variances using delivery metrics.
  • Build strong, trust-based relationships with senior client, partner, and technical stakeholders, providing concise status updates and executive-ready storytelling.
  • Navigate ambiguity, competing priorities, and difficult trade-offs with calm, data-informed recommendations.
  • Manage project risks and customer escalations end-to-end in close partnership with delivery and sales.
  • Identify opportunities to expand phData services, including AI and analytics offerings, within existing accounts.
  • Provide account health readouts covering financials, project status, AI adoption metrics, and key blockers.
  • Help shape a healthy, inclusive delivery culture by coaching Project Managers and consultants, and contributing to the evolution of AI-augmented delivery practices.

Core Requirements

  • Proven experience leading client-facing programs and working directly with executive stakeholders, with strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • 5+ years of Technical Program / Program Management experience in a consulting or professional services environment, managing timelines, scope, budgets, and resources for data and AI programs.
  • Experience running multi-workstream initiatives across data platforms, analytics, cloud, and/or AI/ML, with strong command of Agile/iterative delivery and solid understanding of Waterfall.
  • Background in AI, data, and analytics projects, with familiarity across modern data stacks such as Snowflake, AWS/Azure/GCP, modern BI, and ML/LLM platforms, including associated risks and trade-offs.
  • Demonstrated ownership of performance across a project portfolio, including billable utilization and management of multiple customers concurrently.
  • Proficiency in Jira, Azure DevOps, MS Project, and Excel, along with strong written technical documentation skills.
  • Experience leading remote, multi-geo teams.
  • Bachelor's degree in IT or a related technical field.
  • PMP and CSM certifications are strongly preferred.
  • Willingness to travel up to 50% per month (10 of 20 business days) when required by our clients
