Overview

With minimal supervision and by providing leadership, designs, builds, and tests, workflows, automation, and multi-platform orchestration environments and solutions for IT partners. Leverages AI platforms to develop advanced agentic solutions to facilitate integrations across disciplines. Uses well developed analytical and problem-solving skills to debug and optimize these platforms and services. Using a broad range of cross platform engineering skills, collaborates with 3rd level engineering, automation engineers, peer engineers to build, complex, repeatable IT systems. Interacts closely with the junior, peer, and senior engineers to operationalize and document these processes. Engineers and builds seamless integrations of automated processes across multiple infrastructure disciplines of networking, database, storage, middleware, sysadmin. 


Responsibilities
  • Design and develop advanced AI agents that facilitate seamless engagements with platforms such as ServiceNow, Confluence, Bitbucket, GitHub, and Splunk using MCP servers. Engineers, builds, and tests multi-platform automation, orchestration, and workflows based on requirements from various IT partners.
  • Provides leadership and direction to junior automation engineers on development activities. Contributes to the creation of departmental standards. Collaborates with peer engineering groups and operations staff to ensure appropriate delivery criteria and process capability are met. Proactively anticipates potential failures, business impact, and identifies how to prevent incidents. 30%
  • Leverage product development expertise to design initial architecture and implementation of new orchestration and agentic solutions, ensuring a highly available, performant, and scalable end state. Contributes to the agentic vision and standards for automation, within the team and across IT. 30%
  • Designs and builds quality solutions which are flexible, efficient, simple to maintain, and meet and exceed the customer’s needs. Analyzes and evaluates metrics, key performance indicators and service level agreements to support the overall process improvement goal of the team. Identifies and initiates process improvement opportunities within the department. Develops and presents comprehensive business cases for products or services. 15%
  •  In addition to gathering customers’ requirements, can ask probing questions to get to what the customer really needs, not just what they think they want. Proactively anticipates the customers’ needs/wants; actively looks for opportunities to provide value beyond their requests. Searches out business and IT partners for collaboration opportunities. 10%
  • Leads the downshifting of completed and verified automation solutions onto the Operations teams. Proactively identifies cross-training opportunities. Creates comprehensive documentation for future reference and cross-training purposes. 10%
  • Evaluates and recommends technologies that will be easily maintained and enhanced to get ahead of our rapidly growing development efforts. 5%

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer related discipline program
  • 6 years of experience in developing enterprise software solutions
  • 1 year of proven experience in developing and deploying agentic solutions, and/or developing and deploying machine learning and deep learning models. Ability to build and deploy MCP servers to provide LLMs with secure, standardized access to local and remote tools..

Compensation
In the spirit of pay transparency, we are excited to share that the base pay range for this position is $101,200 - 159,000 per year . Please keep in mind that this range is the base pay only and does not consider other components that make up the total rewards package for the position. If you are hired at Paychex, your overall compensation will be determined based on factors such as geographic location, skills, education, and/or experience which may result in total compensation outside of this range.
