Job description

Be Challenged and Make a Difference

In a world of technology, people make the difference. We believe if we invest in great people, then great things will happen. At AnaVation, we provide unmatched value to our customers and employees through innovative solutions and an engaging culture.

Description of Task to be Performed:

In this role, you will design, build, and maintain the secure, mission‑critical applications that federal law‑enforcement teams depend on every day. You’ll apply systematic and disciplined software‑engineering practices to create reliable, audit‑compliant systems that support case management, investigative analytics, digital‑evidence processing, and other core operational workflows.

As part of your development team, you will guide junior engineers and collaborate with forensic experts, tool developers, and crypto SMEs to build secure, dependable systems that empower the entire mission’s investigative efforts.

You're development efforts will shape architecture, define requirements, and guide implementation across complex enterprise systems. Your work will ensure that mission applications meet strict federal security standards, support privileged‑access controls, and operate dependably in high‑stakes environments where performance and accuracy matter.

As a Senior Developer II, you will operate as a technical leader, mentoring junior engineers, resolving sophisticated issues, improving system performance, and upholding rigorous engineering and documentation standards. You’ll work closely with investigators, analysts, and cyber specialists to translate mission needs into robust software solutions, while supporting modern cloud deployments and DevSecOps pipelines aligned with government requirements.

This position is ideal for an experienced engineer who thrives on building secure, scalable systems that directly support federal operations and national‑security missions.

Work location: Work is mostly remote, with occasional visits to customer and/or corporate locations in DC/Northern Virginia. Applicants who do not currently reside within commuting distance to these locations should describe how they would satisfy any onsite requirements. Remote status is subject to change at the customer’s direction, but is expected to continue.

Responsibilities

  • Architect, design, and develop secure enterprise applications supporting investigative workflows.
  • Implement audit logging, privileged‑access controls, and other federal security requirements.
  • Ensure software maintainability, reliability, and compliance with secure‑development standards.
  • Lead development activities and provide technical guidance to junior team members.
  • Diagnose complex issues and optimize system performance.
  • Contribute to documentation, design reviews, and code‑quality standards.
  • Support cloud deployments and DevSecOps pipelines.
Required Qualifications:
  • At least 5 years of enterprise‑software development experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related technical field.
  • Proficiency in modern programming languages and secure‑coding methodologies.
  • Experience with government environments requiring audit compliance, CJIS standards, or privileged access controls.
  • Familiarity with AWS/Azure cloud services and FedRAMP‑aligned platforms.
  • Clear communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Candidates must meet eligibility requirements for a Secret clearance. DHS Entry on Duty (EOD) suitability is required to begin support. Following EOD approval, candidates will be processed for, and must successfully obtain a Secret clearance.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Security+ or equivalent baseline certification.
  • AWS or Azure professional certifications.
  • Agile/Scrum certifications.
  • Experience with containers, microservices, or distributed systems.
  • Thrives developing in fast moving, agile environments.
  • Active DHS EOD suitability
  • Active DHS Secret or above clearance
